1959 TRIUMPH TR3A ROADSTER. 4SP OVERDRIVE. OLDER RESTORATION. VERY GOOD DRIVER.
1959 Triumph TR3 TR3A Roadster Description
1959 TRIUMPH TR3A SPORTS ROADSTER. SIGNAL RED WITH BLACK TRIM AND TOP. 60-SPOKE PAINTED WIRE WHEELS. 4-SPEED WITH OVERDRIVE GEARBOX. AJDUSTABLE STEERING WHEEL. OLDER RESTORATION. VERY GOOD DRIVER.Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very good TR3A Roadster in nice colors fitted with a desirable overdrive gearbox. This car was purchased from a long- term owner on the East Coast who loved/enjoyed the car and kept it mechanically well-maintained. Plenty was spent with his local British mechanic to ensure it was in excellent driving condition before being offered for sale. As a result, this car runs and drives well with a good operating overdrive unit, an essential for freeway touring with these four-cylinder Triumphs. The body and paintwork on this car is very decent for a driver. It’s an older respray now showing some age and upon close inspection reveals some touch-ups of chips/edges, some fine underpaint cracks. It’s perfectly fine as a 5-10 footer and still looks very glossy and attractive. At one point in the car’s life, there has been some decent repairs to the rockers, floors, lower fenders. The car’s interior trim presents well with newer upholstered front seats in leather hide, correctly trimmed with white piping. Some of the rest of the trim around the rear looks to be original and in good shape, as the door panels have been redone at some point. The dashboard vinyl covering appears to be the original too, as well as all of the switches and gauges, and knobs, which all function well. The windshield has some faint wiper scratches but only on the passenger side. The AMCO replacement top is in good shape overall with a few patches sewn in, but is nice enough without the need for replacement. The car also includes a sidecurtain set. A tonneau cover is recommended and would complete the car’s weather equipment…The car’s engine bay is clean and fairly detailed in the correct body color. The car’s engine starts easily on the push of a button, revs well with good oil pressure, and no smoke. The healthy unit pulls nicely through the 4-speed overdrive gearbox with good syncromesh, and they work in unison all the way up to top gear in Overdrive, which responds quickly to the flick of the “egg-type” dashboard switch. Brakes, clutch, steering, suspension are all good and as expected. The car’s underside looks fairly normal for a car of this era, with a good frame.Overall, a good driving TR3A Roadster with the desirable fitted Overdrive gearbox. This car is nicely presented as a ready-to-go road car in this popular and attractive Triumph color scheme, which suits the car well. Please look at all pictures and call or email with any questions. The description above is general in nature and not to be solely relied upon by buyer.
