1967 Triumph Spitfire WideBody Targa 327c.i. V8 4Speed Trans/Axle IRS Description

History: This 1967 triumph was shipped to Japan when it wasnew. The owner, an afengineerstationed at the basebought it and in 1970 had it shipped to the US where he built the Triumph into a one of a kind 70s custom.The Triumph has been primarilystored for about 25 years. 1st owner issue title from 1970, technically 3 owners.
The body is a not a complete fiberglass body. The original hood, trunk lid and body metal is all used with fiberglass laidovera steel heavy gauge wire-frame. The fiberglass body is not weak or flimsy . There are cracks in the hood, but the wire frame is strong under it all, they will required grinding out and smoothing back out. The targa top is a two piece custom made piece/set. I have purchased all new seals for the doors and the top, will include if not installed.
The chevy 327 mill
Engineis a67 327 Chevy is in good running condition, 4bolt main,Double hump heads, L79, stock lifters/rockers & mild cam, quadrajet carb, revs quick and soundsnasty and if you know these 327 L79 motors, they were 350hp stock.It was built by a speed shop in Chandler Arizona. There is no smoke or leaks and it has a great exhaust note. It fires up quickly and easily. I have had to use a little spray of starting fluid a few times after letting it sit for a few weeks. It has a electric fuel pump that can be heard until it starts, then all you can hear is the engine. It sounds great. The clutch is strong and goes into gears/shifts withno problem.Clutch is a coild sping 10" sprun for max pressure. The clutch pedal is very stiff. The rear mounted Transmission/Axleis aSaginaw 4speed. The shift throw is very short. The radiator is1970s chevy truck. The gastank is modified for larger capacity. The front brakes are from aSpitfire GT and the rear are GM drums with a pressure regulator. The rear hubs were redrilled to have the same bolt pattern as the front. The master cylinder was replaced a couple months. The brakes still are a bit spongy and could use a fluid flush. The proper Dot fluid for real rubber parts is included. Seats are from a later model Spitfire. The custom dashboardhas working gauges.
Only therockers have rusted. the underbody, floors or frame, nuts/bolts, nothing else is rusted. Common thin metal I am told by triumph guys.
It has been driven only around the neighborhood under 40mph and allowed to get up to opperatiing temp to make sure all is well. Cooling system pressurizes, maintains a cool temp. That has been done dozens of times in the last 6 months. The tires are too old and dryrotted from storage and the treads commonly separate and damage the wheelwell -not willing to risk that.
This is just abouteverything I know so far about the Triumph. It is something else. Love it or hate it. I would rather keep it and put it on a track and see what the front engine rear transmission/axle handles in this little suicide machine. I am relocating to Las Vegas and not transporting the triumph would be a logical idea with the added expense of the move. All offers considered.
The title is clear and is 2ndissued titlefrom 1970, and the first title the Triumph received in the USA.
