1967 Triumph Spitfire MkIII
1967 Triumph Spitfire Description
This was my neighbors car, it’s been in his basement for quite a few years. He was going to restore it with his son who lost interest. He had the motor and transmission rebuilt by Quantum Mechanics in Oxford Ct. He also purchased SU carbs and had them rebuild as well, and they still have plenty of oil in them. After the engine was rebuilt he drove it around a few times in my neighborhood and it was stored. He told me the engine breaks in at 1000 miles and he never even came close to driving it that far. The car is very solid with no rot, only light surface rust on the underside in some spots and a little heavier surface rust on the rear axle and springs but very solid. The muffler and pipe will have to be replaced. The rockers are solid along with the floor boards. There is no need to replace any panels on this vehicle she is a solid car. Both doors and open and close just fine and both mirrors will have to be replaced. The hood opens, closes and locks along with the trunk. I haven’t tried to turn over the engine and if I do it will be by hand. It comes with a solid hard top (rare, $1000 value alone) that will need a new seal around the rear glass. It also comes with a new convertible soft top although I do not see the frame for it. Also there are new tires, new interior door panels (he told me they were real leather) new carpet and new seat covers. However the seat frames (that have decent black Upholstry on them) that he gave me are high backs from 1971 I believe, and the new covers are for a 67 low back. He told me he was pissed at himself for ordering the wrong ones. So you can either get used low back seats or new covers for the high backs. The dash cover has some cracks but the wood is in decent shape. It also comes with black used interior door panels. The paint is not the original color and looks like enamel and it’s kind of faded. (The original color was British Raceing Green). The body has some very tiny bubbles around the trunk area and in the door half way up. There maybe a few tiny other ones around the car. I can’t see any large rust bubbles anywhere. She has some small dents and dings around her but no big dents or exterior peeling. There are scratches all around the car and both tail lights are broken from being pushed against the basement wall. And you will need new lenses for the back up lights. I don’t have a battery so I can’t check the electrical but he was driving it around our neighborhood before he drove it in his basement to start a full restoration with his son. The car is still wet in the pictures because I had to wash all the dust off of it. This is a great project for someone who loves to tinker and just slap things together without having to dump lots of money into it or do any welding.*** I’m located in CT and we are a non title state so I don’t have a title for it.*** Please look closely at the pictures and ask questions before buying. If you would like more pictures just ask. You can come look at the car if you would like and pay cash.*** This will be sold as is, no refunds.*** This car is also being sold locally so I do reserve the right to end this auction at any time.
**** I am not getting involved with shipping the car, that’s up to the buyer.
