1960 Triumph Other Description

The car being offered for sale is a 1960 Triumph TR3A. The "date of dispatch" was 8, July 1960. It is sure to bring smiles to the face of the person whom is fortunate enough to be the next owner of thisfantasticlittle machine!

I purchased this car from a British car dealer, back in May, 2014. This car had a nut and bolt, frame-off restoration. The best I can tell is that it was all performed back in 2000-2003. It’s hard to know the exact dates because I don’t have a lot of paperwork but I do have a nice photo-album of the restoration. It has since received on-going mechanical and cosmetic attention to maintain it’s appearance anddrivability.

About 5 minutes after I purchased this car in St. Louis Missouri, I started out on a 6 day, cross country road-trip. Me and“L’il Guy” covered 2,211 miles and 7 states, on our way back to Northern California. What a great time I/we had! :) (See Youtube link below.)

To me, this is the perfect car to own. It is done so well that you are proud to take it to a show and open the hood and maybe even put mirrors on the ground to show off the above average condition of the under-carriage… but not so perfect that you can’t drive and enjoy it. It could be best described as an "older or slightly-deteriorated” frame-off restoration or“street-driven show car". Well cared for and sorted.

This car has some modern upgrades which make it much more reliable and a pleasure to drive. These upgrades include:

* A switched electric fan* Alternator instead of generator (And a negative ground conversation.)* Modern Honda-style starter motor* Rack and pinion steering* High-beam switch relocated to steering column* Wooden period-correct steering wheel
The only other upgrade that I would consider if I were to keep the car, is the Toyota 5 speed conversion which not only gives you the extra gear to lower your RPM on the freeway, but also hassyncros in first gear.
Here is a list of things done while in my possession:
* New rear wheel cylinders and shoes.* New throw-out bearing.* Valve adjustment.* Four new tires and alignment.

The previously mentioned photo album (which is included with the car) shows pictures of the engine, suspension and brakes being rebuilt. The car has the desirable wire wheels and brand new tires, (138 miles). It has the rare factory ash tray and lighter. Comes with excellent convertible top, tonneau cover and side curtains. Also comes with the knock-off hammer and tools, including what I believe is a factory grease-gun.

All exterior lights and latches, gauges, switches, and wiring work as intended. Bottom line: This is a well-sorted, reliableand very fun car. I drove it over 2,000 miles a couple years ago and wouldn’t hesitate to do so again!
