TRIUMPH SPITFIRE 1979
1979 Triumph Spitfire Description
Running, driving project with original factory paint, factory metal hardtop and soft top. Also factory overdrive transmission in excellent working order with all good synchros and shifts perfectly. Interior does need complete makeover and some some surface rust exterior spots needing attention and new paint. There is one hole in the floor on the driver's side floor about the size of a golf ball. Other than that the bottom of the body and frame are in very good shape, solid and dry. There is also a break in the driver's seat frame that can be welded without much trouble. Lots of new parts replaced like front brake lines and brakes, fuel lines and all coolant hoses. Starts up nicely and runs and drives out great with a full set of 5 brand new tires and spare. Never wrecked and straight but does have a crease in the passenger side door. I have a replacement door, actually 2 doors and also a small collection of Spitfire parts to go with this car. Lo, original miles. The rear window glass is out of the hardtop due to a old window seal that needs replacing, but I do have the glass. As mentioned, a parts collection also goes with this car when purchased if desired. This car VIN plate lists it as a 1979, but the title and registration lists it as a 1980 because it was sold and titled in 1980. Some states are known to do this and it is not uncommon. The miles on the speedometer are incorrect, but it appears to be a 60,000 to 70,000 mile car. The speedo cable was broken prior to my purchasing the car. The engine is good with good compression and does not smoke. All electrics are good and the car is very reliable.
