1955 Triumph TR2 1955 TRIUMPH TR-2 SPORTS ROADSTER. NICE ORIGINAL DRIVER. Description

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this fairly original TR-2 that was just purchased from it's Northern California owner of the last 34 years. This well-preserved car appears to be pretty solid and accident-free, with no real apparent rust issues underneath, looking lovely and solid under there. It has been garaged by it's previous owner all of these years. It runs and drives well with it's very strong original engine fitted, and would be the perfect candidate for an easy cosmetic restoration. The body on this car looks pretty good all the way around, with decent panel gapping. The doors open and close fine as well as the trunk lid. The bonnet to front apron gap looks a little wide but could be corrected with some easy readjustment. the rear of the car looks very straight, having never been hit. The rocker panels have had some previous repair and it looks like it's time they should be replaced, an easy task. Underneath, the car's original floors and inner rockers all look very good and solid. Paintwork is faded and older and has been touched/brushed-in on various areas of the car. The windshield looks very good but is showing some slight delaminating in the corners. The car's chrome work looks fairly good overall and is mostly all of the original items. The car's interior still retains it's original dashboard vinyl, door panels, rear 1/4's, rear panel, trunk mat, and a few pieces of it's original faded red carpet. The rare original seats have been re-upholstered in red vinyl at some point along with the fitting of some gray outdoor carpet. The car still has it's original "wedge mount" sidecurtain set in decent shape and it's soft top frame, along with it's original rubber shift knob. The car's trafficator has been removed for repairs, but is included- an important part.Mechanically, the car's correctly sequenced engine starts on the button and runs great with good oil pressure, no smoke or noises, and revs very well and robust. This healthy unit pulls very well with plenty of power all the while exuding a great exhaust note ! It appears to have had a recent valve job. The clutch and gearbox feel good. The original 4 wheel drum brakes "work", but I'm sure there's some stuck front wheel cylinders that need freeing off. The car feels very good out on the road overall with very little easy mechanical work needed. The car is sold with it's spare wheel, lifting jack and handle, an original workshop manual, and an assortment of spare parts in two medium size boxes. The car retains it's original VIN plate, two brass body tags, and correctly numbered engine.Overall, this rare and desirable original TR-2 is a scarce offering. It's finished in a very pleasing factory color scheme and has been well-preserved here in California for all of it's life. It's a good running/driving car with a nice body and is the perfect car for a simple cosmetic restoration going forward.
