Triumph TR4 Rare Factory Overdrive - Numbers Matching - First Year Production
1962 Triumph TR4 Description
Up for auction is my first year of production 1961 Triumph TR4 ( Titled as a 1962 ). Bought this car locally to do as a project with a friend but he doesn't have time to help me so I'm selling her on to the next guy. She's sports the rare factory overdrive transmission and is a numbers matching car. This is your chance to get a straight forward running TR4 project car which don't come up for sale very often. This is a NO reserve auction so the high bidder at the end of the auction takes her home. Heritage: The following numbers will mean everything to people who know these cars. Vin #CT 1604 LO, body # 1704 CT and the engine number is CT 1711 E. Note: the "O" in the vin number proves she is an original overdrive car. Only made 2470 TR4's in 1961 and only a small percentage where produced with overdrive. She was titled as a 1962 when she arrived in the USA but you can get the year on the title corrected at your local DMV. Have a clear North Carolina state issued title in hand. Overdrive:She sports the rare factory Laycock overdrive and has been tested and engages and dis-engages. Mechanical's: Yes the car runs but needs all the hydraulics gone thru as well as the brakes. Engine sounds good and does not smoke. Just had a fresh tune up, new gas tank and new fuel line ran. Interior:As you can see needs full restoration. Does have all its correct Yaeger gauges with the correct dome glass. Have two seat backs but the lower frames as shot. Correct replacements seats are easily found on eBay. Exterior: Nice straight starting point. Doors, front hood and trunk lid fit nicely as seen in the photos. Car sits nice and even on the ground as well. This is an original Red car from the factory. Underbody: Looks dry and solid. Note that frame, floors and inner fender wells have never been under coated so you know what your getting up front. Soft Top: Have soft top frame but no canvas.
