1962 Triumph TR3 1962 TRIUMPH TR3A. BRITISH RACING GREEN. Description

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this decent looking and driving, very late production TR3A in good colors. This car was just purchased from a family in South Carolina whose grandfather had owned it since the late 1970's, according to it's title. It originally was produced in Powder blue with Navy blue trim, and was only within a few hundred cars before the end of TR3A production. The car still retains it's original VIN Plate, pair of brass body tags, and correctly sequenced engine block. The bodywork on this car is decent. Panel fit looks typical TR3A with variable door gaps, hood and trunk gaps. Paintwork is older but still has some good gloss to it. There are some sap stains that could be color-sanded and buffed off to improve the car's decent driver finish. But there' plenty of chips, some lifting, some minor bubbling- all pointing to another repaint down the road...The front bumper assembly has been removed for fitment of fog lamps, but is included. Brightwork is average to very decent. The car has an interesting period aeroscreen fitted behind the standard windshield assembly. The car's interior is usable but would benefit from some improvements. Seats are decent only showing a few small splits. Door panels are decent. The car could use a carpet set. The interior overall is of driver quality but TR3A interiors are simple and cheap to improve.Mechanically, the car is very good. The correctly sequenced engine starts easily on the key with good oil pressure, no smoke and plenty of power. It revs and sounds very healthy and strong overall. The gearbox feels robust with nice gears and good syncros. First gear is fine. The clutch feels good. Steering is typically a bit on the heavy side like all TR3As. Brakes are functioning well but slightly dragging. The car has been stored for quite a while and would benefit from a good chassis and drivetrain lube. The car's underside could use some repairs during it's next restoration. It drives fine in it's current condition and can be definitely put into use until that time.Overall, a complete running and driving, late production TR3A needing little maintenance to keep it in use on the road. This car feels good mechanically and would benefit from a restoration later down the road. It presents decently in it's attractive colors and can be quickly put into use as an around-town, fun driver.
