Selling a beautiful 1974 Triumph TR-6. Overall is outstanding condition. Mechanically and cosmetically this car is in great condition due to a lot of love, care and passion, from its previous owners. Spent most of its life in California, but eventually made it to the east coast, where in April of 2008, had a “body on” but glass out restoration. Body was stripped down to bare metal and had all of the body work, blemishes and rust spots repaired. Paint job was done by an absolute professional with pictures documenting the whole process. Body was refinished in the classic Carmen red. Rubber seal around windshield was also replaced. This was all done when the car was owned by a famous Boston lawyer, who spared no expense.
Body is in great shape, I couldn’t find a simple dent or blemish on any of the body panels. The paint still looks brand new. No major blemishes, dents, scratches. The body and frame are very straight, never in a crash. Undercarriage is extremely clean and in great condition (see pictures for details of undercarriage). Rocker panels, doors and wheel wells all look very solid and free of any major rust spots. Also frame is very clean and free from major rust (see pictures for details). Doors, trunk and hood all close, open and fit correctly and accurately, however driver exterior door handle doesn’t seem to be operating correctly. Only area that could use a some repair are the floor pans and small area in the trunk (see pictures for details). Nothing too major and very easy fix. There is also one small spot where there is a little paint bubbling, it is located on the trunk (see picture), otherwise professional paint job looks fantastic. Chrome bumpers look great, but have a couple small dents that are shown in pictures. Rubber bumper guards are in good shape, but have a couple hairline fractures beneath them (seen in pictures).
Interior looks excellent. Bucket seats are in original vinyl (good if you get caught in sun shower with the top down). Seats are great shape with no rips or tears and a lot of life left in them. Carpet is in good shape with no rips or tears, but some discoloration. Comes with Triumph floor mats. Dashboard, trim and gauges all in good shape with no major cracks. Door panels look good. The (near) new convertible top (black on black, colonial vinyl) is in great shape. Also comes with protective tonneau cover.
After market Kenwood radio installed with kicker speakers. All electronics seem to work well; turn signals, horn, gauges all good, except windshield wipers and headlights just stopped working recently. Easy fix. Tires are newer and in great shape. They are Yokohama Avid TRZ. 15’’ Rims are in great shape.
Original 2.5 liter inline 6 cylinder with 4 speed transmission in excellent shape. Twin-Stromberg Carburetors were recently cleaned and in great condition. Engine fires right up, sometimes without the assistant of the choke. Engine purrs and exhaust has a delightful “throaty” sound. Shifts smoothing through all gears and pulls strong. Clutch flywheel replaced about 22k miles ago and grabs quickly. Suspension is tight and corners well.
Most recent repairs were done in December of 2015, with a new fuel filter, oil and oil filter change, vacuum and radiator hoses replaced, carbs cleaned, new distributor cap, new spark plug, new air filter, and overall tune up. Comes with lots of extra parts: extra used flywheel, gaskets, wiper blades, original flip-gas cap, door hinge trim, gas petal cover, original radio, plugs, wires, air filters, etc.
VIN Report done in June 2015 states that odometer read 57900. Odometer currently reads 58,458. According to previous owners, lots of paperwork and latest mechanic, mileage on odometer appears to be accurate. Paperwork and condition of car and engine are consistent with that. Mechanic says the car runs like the mileage states, however, due to a clerical error at the DMV, mileages on title has an extra 100k miles. We are stating this to give full disclosure. True mileage is unknown, but it is believed that the odometer’s reading is accurate. However, title states otherwise. Please be advised.
This is a truly lovely piece of automotive history. One of the quintessential classic British sports cars. This TR-6 is ready to be driven and loved all summer long. This car was maintained and cared for throughout ownership, however, I am not a mechanic. I have been as honest as possible, but if you are interested in the car, please feel free to come see it in person or have your mechanic check it out. It is a 42 year old car, so it is not right off the assembly line, but appears to be in great shape for its’ age. Please remember, placing a bid is agreeing to a contract set forth by eBay. Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements, but we will be as helpful as possible. $500 deposit (via paypal) is due within 48 hours of auction closing. Remaining balance should be paid by cashier’s check, bank check, cash, or money wired to my bank account, within 7 days of auction closing. The car will not be released until funds are 100% cleared. Deposit is non-refundable. Good luck bidding J
