Volkswagen Vanagon/Bus 1981 Westfalia Camper, Recently remanufactured 2.0 liter aircooled engine, automatic transmission. This Vanagon has 108,815 miles showing on the odometer, the former owner stated the mileage is correct. There is a small tag on the engine, indicating a rebuild, very clean engine, has been modified from stock fuel injection to a 2 barrel carburetor set up. I believe that this bus spent time on the west coast and came from there originally. This is a true time capsule, regardless and one original, clean, all most no rust Beauty. The paintwork overall is in pretty good condition, the under carriage is spotless.
This Vanagon runs, drives well, shifts, rides smooth, quiet and felt great at 55, tires are nearly new and perfect. It will need an alignment and brakes are spongy and indicating at minimum the system will need bleeding, it could need some brake work as well. If the Van does not sell right away I may investigate the brake system issue. It's minor, due to not being driven much in the last 3 years. It was last inspected in 2013, was last registered in September of 2016. For the last couple years, the former owners did not use it much. Transmission shifts smoothly, engine sounds very nice, just like it should, fluids are clean and full. Some brake work, an alignment, wiper blades, horn and blower fan fixed, are the only things this van really needs to be roadworthy and ready to travel. The drivers door could also use a bushing for the windshield wiper regulator.
Pop top is in great condition, opens easily. There are some dents in the lower drivers door and the lower sliding door. Missing some paint by the sliding door. The doors still seal correctly and open and close perfectly. The sliding door has been fully serviced and operates flawlessly. The rear door shocks are both really strong. The van does a a couple small rust spots, on the lower front corner window seal of the sliding door one next to drivers door handle and also along the front end, just behind the front bumper, very minor surface rust. This bus has air conditioning, but it has been disconnected via the belt, to reduce load on the engine. It has a refrigerator, sink, power supply, lights, no stove. Upper camper bed, canvas, etc. is in nice condition, in the pictures some of the canvas was still wet, as I had washed the van, it is not stained. Has small denting in the rear bumper.includes curtain and screens, as pictured. Not pictured, but included are 2 original jacks, tool kit, aftermarket am/fm tape deck, original owners manual, repair manual, second table mount.
This van is being sold with the bill of sale only, no title, no warranty, as is where is. In VT cars older than 10 years are not issued a title. Included in the purchase is a State of Vermont bill of sale. In addition, I just discovered via EBAY that the van has a salvage title at some point:Brand, Date, Location Salvage 08-20-1996 CT,Rebuilt/Rebuildable 08-22-1996 JOHNSTOWN,NY.
