1987 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Westfalia Weekender Description

This vanagon was running when it was parked 10 years ago to have the brakes fixed. Unfortunately for the van, life got in the way while it patiently waited. It is time to pass our beloved Vanagon on to an owner who has the time to restore it to its former glory.
It still turns over nicely, but will need a lot of cleaning up before it can be driven. Just before it was parked a new clutch and starter were installed and the transaxle was replaced. It drove and shifted perfectly.
There are some significant spots of rust and a few dents and dings. It will probably need new tires and to have the brakes finished. (We did manage to install new calipers and brake cylinders). The interior is dirty but intact. All the cabinets are there, The fold down bed in the back has the original upholstery. The pop-top mechanism works fine but there are some holes in the canvas that could be patched. The upper bed has the mattress. The van comes with the original curtains and a secondary battery set-up. As you probably know, these vans came with plenty of storage space, under the rear seat, over the bed as well as cabinets on the side.
The dog had chewed on the steering wheel and the skylight will need replacing. The wood subfloor is peeling up and will need to be replaced. The side door does not slide smoothly.
The van is sold as-is and will need to be towed as the brakes are not functional.
This would be a great camper for someone who has some time to clean it up.
