1978 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Superbeetle Karmann Champagne Edition Description

Up for auction is our 1978 VW Super Beetle Champagne Edition Convertible. The engine was completely rebuilt by L & M Motors in Brooklyn, N.Y. an extremely reputable VW repair shop, however the fuel pump has stopped working and one of the injectors are leaking from the supply hose so with the gas leak I have not driven the car since the summer and would not suggest it until that is corrected. I will include a brand new Bosch fuel pump with the sale of the car. I also replaced the very expensive cold start injector as well as the double relay. The car is in pretty great shape otherwise. The tires do need to be replaced but are still roadworthy as I drove the car the last time during the summer and had no problems. All of the brakes were completely rebuilt by the same shop as well with new wheel cylinders and drums etc. The car ran well the last time I drove it, I was able to take it to the Jersey Shore twice this summer with no problems which is about a 200 mile round trip for me. It has plenty of power and gets plenty of looks. The top was replaced before I got it, and it is still in excellent shape. The original floors are rock solid and show no signs of any rust at all. I also had the windshield washer rebuilt and the rear defroster repaired. Both the radio and the blower motor work fine as well. Surprisingly for a VW the heat is excellent as I drove it last winter and never froze at all and had no problem with the front defroster either. The paint is the only area that needs to be addressed. The finish is dull but should definitely compound out but there are some spots evident in the pictures where the paint has chipped off. There is no rust-through or rot anywhere on the car, just some surface rust where the paint chipped. I was going to have the car painted but I will leave that up to the new owner should they decide they would like to change the color, which I wouldn't suggest because it is an original triple White Champagne Edition Car. The Champagne Edition options which are on the car are the basket weave seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, rear defroster, gold body stripes, factory original in-door stereo speakers, and very rare Lemmerz white and silver sport rims. The fog lights that are on the car are period correct Hella fog lights however I never hooked them up. I also have an original Blaupunkt amplifier/equalizer that goes with the car as well along with a custom made Bluetooth adapter andauxiliaryplug for the original stereo. I have listed all I can think of at this point shouldyou have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will answer them as best I can. The car is sold as-is, where-is and it is the buyers responsibility to arrange any shipping or transport, and I will help and cooperate any way that I can. I am by no means a mechanic so all that I have told you comes directly from the shop that did the work on the car. Thanks for looking, good luck and happy holidays!
