This 1986 Volkswagen Vanagon GL is a great candidate for an easy restoration. It spent most of its time in Southern California, and has a very nice body with no evidence of rust anywhere I have seen. It runs and drives, I drove it on the trailer, but it has a bad head gasket that leaks coolant outside of the engine. There is no evidence of water in the oil. The doors all open and close well, and the only obvious dent is a crease on the bottom of the sliding door. It has Factory A/C and is a manual 4-speed. The windshield is cracked, but the rest of the glass is good. Tires all have good tread on them. Last February it had a new fuel pump installed as well as the filter, head hose, 2 oil cooler hoses, bypass hose, heater hoses and clamps. The upholstery is in pretty nice condition, but it will need new door panels and a left speaker. The power window switch for the passenger side is included, but I have no idea what it may need there. Be assured this is a project, and it is sold “as-is”, but with such a clean body it can be great again. It was towed behind a motor home, which I am told, is where most of the miles on it have come from. The battery it came with is very weak, so I will buy a new one on Monday so I can check out all of the electrical. I will post an update at that time.
Please ask any questions ahead of time, and please only bid if you have cash in hand. For new EBay members, this is an auction, not Craigslist. Bidding on any car means you are obligated to buy it. There will be no negotiating of the price, or inspections done after the auction ends. If you want to have it inspected before the auction ends, I can accommodate that. I will need a 500 dollar deposit at the close of the auction by way of PayPal, with the balance due in the form of cash, cashiers check, or bank transfer. All checks will need to clear my bank before the bus can be released. It will come with a clear, open, California title. The vin has been verified to be accurate on it. Thanks, TJ
