1967 VW Karmann Ghia Coupe
Complete Body and Frame off restoration.
1600cc Engine completely rebuilt using German parts where available; New Pistons, Cylinders, Lifters, Main Bearing, Cam Bearing, Rod Bearings, and Engine Gasket set, Rear Main Seal, 4-Intake Valves, 4-Intake Guides, and 8-PushRod Tubes and Oil Pump. New Plug Wires, Blue Bosch Coil, Electric Fuel Pump, Dual Carburetors and Exhaust.
Rebuilt Highway Flyer Transmission and New Clutch.
Suspension: Reconditioned Adjustable Front Beam. New Tie Rods, Steering Box, Steering Shock, Spindles, Wheel Bearings, Front Rotors, Calipers, Pads, Rear Drums, Shoes and Hardware. Rear Shocks are adjustable Coil-overs. New Brake Lines and Master Cylinder.
The Wheels are EMPI Cosmo with New Tires.
Electrical: New Complete Wiring Harness, Turn Signal Lever, Fuse Box, Fuel Sending Unit, Battery, Bulbs and all connectors. New Horns with correct rubber boot. Lighted Rearview Mirror Re-Chromed. (This is a one year only item specific to this car) Blaupunkt AM/FM Radio.
Body: New Floor pans and coated inside and out with POR-15. Patch panels, any and all rust removed and replaced with new metal, all exposed metal coated with POR-15.Seam sealed top and bottom. Dynamat installed on complete interior. Body work at over 100/hours and painted with a late model Mercedes Silver/Gray.
Speedometer, Fuel Gauge and Clock gauges have been Re-Conditioned By Karmann Ghia Parts and Restoration and the clock works too.
Interior: Seats were disassembled sand blasted and Powdered Coated Black, New Seat Foam and Covers. New complete Carpet kit, Door Panels, Rear Panels, Dash Pad, Visors and Headliner.
The Front and Rear Bumpers are New Stainless Steel with New Mounts and Rubber Kits.
All Chrome parts have been professionally redone, Aluminum Trim around windows and on side are new. All Rubber Seals are New.
This has been a three year project and was completed December 2016 by Rare and Unique Rides of Bradenton Florida. Well over 350 hours plus parts were invested. The car currently has about 400 miles on it since the restoration. The car received excellence awards in two of three local car shows we entered. She runs, shifts, stops and drives perfect.
