1974 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon CLASSIC ORIGINAL VW Bus - Second Owner! Description
Second Owner 1974 VW Bus!
This is my Dad’s old friend.
This 1974 VW Bus was restored to (almost) original condition.
This beauty is now 43 years old but looks like it just came off the Showroom Floor.
Dad bought it from the Original Owner years ago and stripped it down to the frame, researched the history of it (with the M-Plate numbers), painted it the original factory colors with factory specific interior.
- 7 Passenger, has the middle seat.
- Fully carpeted throughout with original style black carpeting.
- Front driver's and passenger floor area has original rubber mat (because of the sand living at the beach) but I have the carpeting for the front floorboard.
- Sliding Tin-Roof (needs adjustments).
- 8-Track Tape Player from 1974 (and Speakers, too) that work!
- Original in-dash AM Radio that works!
- Custom curtains and pillows (made by Grandma).
- A real head-turner that gets “Thumbs Up” from other VW enthusiasts and others that love it.
- Original In-Dash Clock (Very Rare) that works but may loose a few minutes a day because it does sit in the garage quite often.
- It’s been serviced by the same mechanic in Long Beach that the original owner bought it in 1974.
- PLUS... We have all of the ORIGINAL DOCUMENTATION when the Bus was bought by the original owner... Loan documents, Title, Loan papers, Registration... All when it was purchased from Harrison VW in Long Beach back in 1974.
- Comes with Roof Luggage Rack (as shown in one of the pictures) but it’s usually off the Bus so it could fit in the garage.
- Original Color: Ceylon Beige/Pastel White.
- Original Factory Specific Beige Interior.
- Headliner is in great shape but does have one (very) small tear near one of the grip handles on the rear passenger side.
- Folding Rear Seat.
- It has the original 1800cc dual carb motor with about 157k miles on it, and runs great but Dad never had it rebuilt.
- New Tires - about 1 year old with less than 1,000 miles on them, all matching whitewalls
We don’t know why the Title is “Salvaged” because there is nothing wrong with the integrity of the Bus. It’s never been in an accident and the original owner can’t recall when or why the Title was changed to “Salvaged”.
It can be a “Daily Driver” but it’s always been garage kept since my Dad bought it and restored it. He would take it out for special events, car shows, rides to the beach, etc.
It's not a "10" Restoration but it is above average. There are a few flaws in the paint/body but they're not life changing.
I have posted a few pictures but it’s much better in person.
The Bus is currently garaged in Long Beach, California where the buyer can take possession.
Interested parties only please...
No “Tire Kickers”. I don’t have the time to pull it out of the garage every day so if you’re REALLY interested, I’ll work with you.
Price is based on the receipts I have for all of the work that my Dad spent on this beautiful ride.
Contact me with any other questions you may have. I WILL NOT respond to SPAM inquiries or questions that may have already been explained or described above.
I can send more pictures, but it really shows better in person.
Because I travel and have other responsibilities, I can be available to show you the Bus by APPOINTMENTS ONLY PLEASE with a minimum of 48 hours notice.
Thank you for your time.
