1975 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Description

This classic 1975 Super Beetle is a solid rust-free car, has a clean title and the engine runs extremely well and the transmission shifts smoothly. There are under ten (10) actual miles on engine/ transmission/ tires/ brakes, etc. As you can see from the extensive list below all mechanical and electrical components have been updated. I'm afraid this project got away from me and I got in too deep. I have receipts that document over $7,000 for the work shown below. The actual mileage is unknown.

Engine and Transaxle upgrades

• The jewel of the car is the 1600cc dual port fuel injected engine that was extensively and professionally refurbished. The crankshaft was line bored so the internals run smooth. As with any fuel injected engine they perform much better when operating over various altitudes, especially high altitudes, than an engine that is carbureted.

• At the same time the engine was refurbished, a professionally refurbished transaxle was installed.

Other components installed were:

• New swing axles and bearings

• New clutch and pressure plate

• New Bosch electric fuel pump

Safety upgrades

• New rear brake hubs, brakes and brake lines

• Replaced the front drum brakes with new front disc brakes and hoses

• Installed a new brake master cylinder

• All new tires

• Electrical system was professionally checked and repaired where needed

Other information

• A new front fender to replace the existing drivers side fender that has a dent (shown in pictures)

• New running boards are included as the original running boards were the worse for wear

• All windows are free of cracks

• With the exception of the front seats, the interior and rear seat covers were removed because they were falling apart. The southwest is great for keeping a vehicle rust free but can be brutal with interiors when left in the sun.

You will notice other ads stating their vehicle has been in storage for a few years but was running when parked. My experience is that if a vehicle isn't running when you buy it, you may be in for a surprise if the fix isn't as simple as you are led to believe. The best vehicle to buy is a running vehicle because at least you know that something major in the engine or transmission isn't out of whack.

Also, to my surprise I found that you can't just walk into a salvage yard to buy beetle parts like you use to as they scrap pretty quick as they have more metal than newer vehicles, so having a complete rust-free beetle is a definite plus.
