1966 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Standard Description
Up for sale is a 1966 standard VW bug. I inherited this car from an Aunt who passed away recently. I really know nothing about VW’s, only what I’ve learned on eBay. The car runs and looks great, I drove it from the Sacramento area to Salinas with no issues, I took it over the Pacheco Pass in 90° plus weather.
From what I gather from a neighbor she was the original owner but I cannot verify this. It has the original motor or at least it is a 1300. From what I’ve gleaned from the neighbor it was restored in the early nineties but was not driven much and it was in the garage when I picked it up. The paint and chrome is in excellent condition. The front bumper was replaced already. All the glass is original except for the front window. All glass is excellent except the rear window which has a six inch scratch in it, not very noticeable but it’s there. I tried to capture it with a picture but not very well. The paint is still nice and shiny as it shows in pictures. There was a small 1” rust hole near the left rear edge of battery which was repaired by a welder. Everything works as it should with the exception of the radio. The blinker switch works but the high/ low beam button on the back of the switch is broken but still operates the beams. The boot that covers the heater levers needs replacement, it’s very stiff. Also the cable that operates the rear heater needs replacing or fixing. Also the center heater dash vent needs replacement(a new one goes with the car). The steering wheel is in very good condition but the horn ring has the ring part missing. It has almost new Radial tires with a good spare. It has the original jack.
There is a very small dent on top of driver side front finder which i not very noticeable and a few small scratches, very few and nothing bigger than 1/4". The headliner looks like new but has a small stain. I have pictures which should show what I’m referring to. The car has a 6 volt system.
I have a very reasonable reserve price.
