1988 Volkswagen Golf GTI 16 Valve Mica Red. MK2
1988 Volkswagen Golf GTI Description
This GTI would make a great daily driver. This was my girlfriends daily driver for about two years. I took it off the road with plans to replace any worn mechanical items and repair the rusted areas on the body ahead of a full repaint in factory Mica red. Unfortunately I am now moving to Connecticut with rather short notice and will not have time to complete the project. Thus this car must go soon! Your offers are welcome.
I have just now gone through and replaced all the mechanical components necessary to make this a ready to drive reliable GTI.

Car is located in Cocoa, FL 32927. Clear Florida Title in my name. VIN#1VWDC0175JV016474. Has 190,100 Miles on the odometer. I was told by the previous owner that the engine was rebuilt at about 140,000, but I was not given any documentation to back that up. MOMO steering wheel and manual steering rack. 14” MSW Basketweave alloy wheels. Suspension is lowered on adjustable Raceland coil overs. Front and rear NEUSPEED Anti-Sway bars with ball joint links. MK3 Front brakes. Tectonics exhaust header with flex joint in place of CAT. Stock OEM Borla exhaust and hangers from flex joint back (two years old). Big bumper and badged grill round headlight conversion. The factory A/C system has been removed and I do not have any of the original components. The dash A/C controls are still present.
The interior is in very good shape overall, no rips in the bolsters, no cracks in the dash, door cards are clean and free of any delamination. Shift & Handbrake boots are nice, carpet is good throughout. Sony CD/MP3/AUX Stereo with 4 new speakers.
Unfortunately the driver and passenger seat fabric sections need recovering and the rear headliner area needs to be re-glued.
The rusted areas of the body are, the lower left windshield channel (rusted through), the rear hatch below the window (rusted through), small spots just under the lower rear window trim, and along the bottom inside edge of passenger door. Some areas on the underbody. I do have a ’89 Golf 8 Valve parts car listed for sale with a good rear hatch if interested. Find it listed on TheSamba and VwVortex. I'd be willing to discuss a deal if someone wants to buy both.
Mechanical items needed: New horn, New sunroof seal needs to be installed (seal included), tires have 30% tread left. Could probably use a proper front wheel alignment as some front suspension components were just replaced, though it does track straight as is.
