1982 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Westfalia Description

1982 Volkswagen Vanagon, with the original 1.6 liter diesel motor (26 MPG!), and a 4-speed manual transmission. This bus has only 121,000 original miles! (although title states "mileage discrepancy", since since the previous owner accidentally wrote 151,000 on the title when he sold it to me) This VW Vanagon runs great, even after sitting for 5 years. The motor is strong, and the transmission and clutch have no issues. The brakes work great, and have good pedal pressure. Even the e-brake works! It fires right up every time, but the last time I went to move it, the starter wouldn't engage, so I had to pop start it. May need a starter or starter solenoid soon, starteris working intermittentlybut pops just fine. That being said, this bus has been mostly sitting for quite some time, so itwillneed tires to be road worthy (driver front only holds air for 1-day currently), and it needs a battery. I would also recommend changing all the fluids, and giving all mechanical components a good once over. The bus will need some minor body work, as you can see in the pics. The bones of this bus are in great shape, very solid underneath. Basically, this will need a good going through, or even better, start your restoration!
This bus has a full package Westfalia camper interior with electrical outlets, auxillary heater, stove, and refrigerator. This camper has the full size bed up top, and the fold out bed down below. Comes with and extra rear mattresspad, extra new original curtains, and the original mosquito net for the rear hatch. The interior is really in phenomenalshape, as you can see from the pictures. The cushions have no rips or tears, and the canvas for the pop-up camper roof is in great shape, with a minor tear in the screen, and a couple pin holes in the front top area. The sunroof on the pop-up roof will need the seal replaced as it developed a minor leak when I pressure washed the roof.
This Vanagon has has only been driven a handful of times over the last many years. There are areas that could use attention, but it's a great Vanagon camper. The undercarriage is super solid. Check out the pics, you'll see how much potential it has.
