1958 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Description

1958 VW Panel pressed bumper bus. German made May of '58. Daily driver ready. Vintage painted graphics on paint. Originally Dove Blue. Engine compartment still wears original color, some of the original color is also peeking through in cab. BUG-IN 22 participant in 1979 and still carries the event badge. Solid floors, chassis, inner nose bottom lip, torsion bar area, parcel tray, all critical points etc... Safe and solid to drive, not a rust bucket. CA bus. Converted to 12V. Strong period built performance dual port, doghouse AS41, 1600 with Porsche 356 Zenith NDIX carb, aluminum manifold, 009. Engine accelerates very smooth and has excellent power. Starts right up every time cold or hot. Cruises the highway and climbs hills smoothly. Smooth shifting transmission with reduction boxes. Heater works. Bus drives and stops great, very smooth. Would not hesitate to drive anywhere.
All doors work good. Good steering. All tail lights, brakes lights, turn signals, hi-lo beam, license plate, cargo area, dash lights work. Original: Hella glass tail lights, front emblem, drivers visor, all door handles and latches, original key, speedometer, CA blue commercial plates, crank start apron, spare tire and jack... Comes with the original matching numbers 36hp motor. Wood panels in interior. Vintage Indian Motorcycles sticker on rear window.
This bus is a treat to drive. Safari windows make it a pleasure to cruise in the open air.
