1957 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Beetle Oval Window Description

1957 VW Beetle - VIN # 1403361 / Engine # 1699751(Dec of '56)

I am representing this car for a friend and have full access to it during thecourse of the auction.I encourage you to ask any and all questions you may have about the carbeforeyou bid.

Please cut-and-paste the following link to view the photo galleries containing dozens of recent images and a video of the car:boardhoarder.use.com

This car received a full nut-and-bolt restoration a number of years ago before the current owner purchased it. The paint, chrome, and interior are all inbeautiful condition and the underside is just as clean.I have driven this car recently and itaccelerates smoothly, tracksstraight, and stops well.Throttle, steering, and braking are all very responsive.Allfunctions operate, with theexception of what is noted below

Aside from the fullrestoration, it also benefits from nearly $15,000 worth of servicing and upgrades in the past year(receipts available)to be sure that it is a fully roadworthy and reliable driver. Some highlights of what was done include:

-The top end was gone through and aWolfsburg West Okrasa style dual carb and manifold kit was installed-Abarth style exhaust and new J tubes-Full 12 volt upgrade with Porsche 356 generator-Camber compensator kit-Pertronix electronic ignition-New rear axle boots-Seat beltsinstalled

Other notable highlights include:
-Latersynchromesh transmission-Big M radio-Original Sekurit German glass-Rometsch-style steering wheel-Tool kit

As with any car of this vintage, there are some flaws worth pointing out. The following are items that could use some attention:

-The radiodoesn't work. It should be noted that it did work when the the car was still 6 volt, but rather than add a voltage drop, they opted to simply disconnect it when doing the 12 volt conversion..-Some of the original German Sekurit side glass (mainly the right rear window) has some very lightscratches. It's minimal, but worth mentioning. I think nearly all of it could be polished out.
