1966 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Westfalia Description
1966 VW Westy camper.
This is a solid one, great potential and personality as it sits.
Recent: Front brakes, rear brakes & wheel cylinders, front and rear brake hoses, rear main seal, oil change and valve adjustment w/new Bosch plugs. New Brosol carburetor, fuel pump oil pressure switch and dipped fuel tank (at radiator/gas tank shop), new fuel tank screen, generator belt and battery. Has recreational fuel in there, no ethanol since I've had it.
Runs great, drives good and straight but now pops out of 2nd gear. You need to lightly hold shift when in 2nd gear and it stays. It's rarely driven, just a few times a week to move out of the carport so it's out of the way.
Haven't been able to decide on front seat colors, so it's got a blanket which is comfortable for some reason. Frames are very nice though. Original seat belts in good shape still. Missing fridge and rear seat next to it but has one from early 70's camper. No leaks at any windows when it rains, and it rains hard here in Florida.
Some rust through, front floor shot, but still very solid overall with a few dings and small dents which is expected with a 52-year old VW. Doors and windows open and close very nicely (doors and hatch perfect), including side doors (lock into place still). Wipers not working but new wiper blades and new front glass. Replacement panels in place on front floor, not welded in yet (screwed down), was going to do whole floor, but never got around to it and solid with the patch panels. Wanted to do new interior panels, but again, can't decide on colors or wood and lacking motivation with so many VW's around where I work.
Clear coated last year over all original paint for preservation, just happens to have awesome patina because of that, but it wasn't planned or calculated as you can probably tell. Just wanted to preserve it until I got around to restoring it the rest of the interior. Just too busy, so here it is on eBay with a couple other of my personal VW's.
Clear Florida title in my name.
- My feedback is a proud 100% perfect whether I sell a t-shirt, a car, or whatever.
- Please don't bid if you don't want this NOT PERFECT 52-year old camper.
- Ask questions if you have any. Please don't expect a show car but one as it is generally described. If you need a specific photo, just ask and I'll take one. I could take 100-photos and someone will still say they need a different one. It's not a problem.
- Sold AS IS WHERE IT IS in Sarasota, Florida.
- If you'd like to talk instead of email, send me your phone number and I'll be happy to call you when time permits.
Thanks and good luck bidding!
