1966 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Description

Ruby Red 1966 Volkswagen Beetle sedan. This car is 12-volt with a 1600 single port engine (Engine Seriel # T0255806). It was lowered in the early '80's by the previous owner and has been off the road since 2002. It needs brakes and tires, owever, t starts right up and runs great. It begins to smoke a little once at operating temperature. It needs new rings I would suspect, ut it runs great with no mis-firing and no funky sounds. It could be just one cylinder, erhaps piston number 3 may have heated up at some time and blued the rings. I'm only speculating. The bottom-end I believe is fine. The rear and front aprons are clean and straight, ncluding the side-walls of the spare tire-well. There are a few minor dents and dings and it took a slight hit at some point way back and the right front fender was replaced. There is a little very minor rust starting at the base of the front wheel wells, ut it's not bad. The car is otherwise clean with the original, olid pan and clean original heater channels. The white residue under around the battery tray, hown in the photos is NOT battery acid, ut rather phosphoric acid applied to neutralize the surface. The doors line up, pen, lose and latch as they should. The trunk-lid, owever, eeds the correct hinges. They were previously replaced with post-1967 hinges and the present units are not correct. The original headliner is mostly intact, ut has a few small holes. The dash is perfect and all four original interior door panels are in place. The passenger front seat is from a '65 and the driver's seat is the correct '66 seat. Both the front and rear seats need upholstery. The wheels are repro Porsche 356 rims and the spare is an original '66 wheel. This unit sat for over a decade and it will drive with brakes. I have driven it around my back yard, ut have not run it through the gears nor have I brought it up to road-speed. There are no hidden issues and it's a pretty honest old car which I bought from a 70 year old neighbor, lose by, ho sold his home a couple years ago and was moving down to California. He had no plans to take it with him and I bought it when he left in mid-2014.I'm currently in the same position and would keep it if I weren't forced to sell my home.It runs and is ready to restore or fix up as it is. The v.i.n. stamp in the pan and v.i.n. tag on the body are present, atch and are perfectly intact. The car has a clear title in my name.More than 50 photos available. Will sell to U.S., anada, .K., urope, ustralia, apan and can help arrange overseas shipping at buyer's expense. Serious inquiries please.Seller reserves the right to end this listing at any time. Thank you for looking.
