California bus always been in CA.
My wife found this bus in Sonora CA on a mountain peak. Keys were missing and it had cross threads on one of the spark plugs. I believe the mileage 53818 is correct. It was all original, stock interior and the original engine, it wasn’t repainted and have never been in an accident.
We decided to do a full restoration.
New paint in the original Niagara Blue, we changed the Alpine white to a more off white.
It’s been painted apart, door jambs and engine bay was painted at the same time. Doors was all apart, all the glass was out of the bus. Paint was 8k. New windshield, all the glass rubber moldings are new and replaced, I had a professional glass guy install all the glass.
The body was in good condition, we replaced a small piece on the driver and passenger floor board. We also replaced a patch panel under the battery in the engine bay, all the repairs were done professionally.
This bus had a sliding sun roof original, I bought a 1971 original bus roof and we drilled out all the spot welds and replaced the hole roof just like they do on the factory when they put in the roof panel.
New head liner, new seat covers, new door panels, new rubber floor mat front and rear, new cargo mat, new rubber mats under driver and passenger seats, ZVW bed kit for rear seat, turns the rear seat in to a bed,
New door handles, new mirrors, new steering wheel, new Deluxe moldings.
We replaced almost everything that was available, we didn’t build it to sell it.
Powder coated rims, tires are ok but not new. Bus was painted in 2014 we didn’t finish it until spring 2018. Beautiful bus in a great color combo.
