What's in the package:
  • 1978 VW Westy in original Sage Green, with period correct "orange peel" finish. 138,350 miles on original engine. Runs beautifully. Down to the metal exterior body restoration in 2004 and garage kept in heat controlled environment since; no alterations to original design. Ice box, sink with faucet, pop top, front seat table, storage stool. Complete 1978 model. Safety upgrades of retractable front seat belts and GFI outlet. Interior is mostly original with exception of headliner, curtains, floor mats and shifter knob.
  • Original front seat hammock in like new condition.

  • Additional1979 2.0L engine, with 1500 original miles. Complete and in good condition but should be rebuilt due to passage of time. Proper engine block code "GE".

Known issues:
  • Horn doesn't work. A steering column button has been added, to sound the horn.
  • Piping is coming loose on front seats. Can be reattached with glue or stitching.
  • Rear drum brakes in good shape but need adjusting.
  • Some small chips in paint, on bumper, on right rear corner panel and on driver door. See photos for details and size. Can easily be touched up with matching paint.

Terms: Cash, Bank cashier's check (must clear for 3 business days before we release the vehicle) or Bank Wire Transfer (usually clears same day if done early enough and we will release upon clearance verification).
Buyer must arrange and pay for transportation or you may pick up locally. No overseas sales or third party transactions.

This is a beautiful, lovingly maintained piece of history. It is not perfect but we aimed to be true to the original and have maintained as much of the original vehicle as possible, replacing only with accurate restoration pieces where necessary, and only a few safety upgrades.
