1968 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Description

Interested in this car, call eight64-321-2096--What we have here is a nice bug it was restored years ago, it has been maintained well. It was maintained well because it has been the car of 2 daughters of car guys. and any father that can afford to will not send his little girl out in junk, so this ant junk. I got it from a car guy in Alabama who maintains a fleet of classic and hot rod cars for a wealthy chap. His daughter wanted a classic bug because her dad drove one as a daily driver and she liked the "Herbie" movies. His daughter drove it several years then got married to a local guy and had a kid. V.W. bugs and child car seats don't mix so well, so she gave it back to her dad and i got it from him for my daughter because my daughter liked the Herbie movies.
Here's the recent history on it. We have owned it about 4 1/2 years we drove it daily for nearly 4 years then it developed a vibration. My wife would not allow our daughter to drive it until i fixed it. But not being a trained bug man i had to drive it until it broke and then i took it to a bug specialist, they replaced all the following parts but it took then forever to do it and my daughter drove my pick-up while they worked on it. When they got it done my wife made me and my son drive it until we decided it was safe, during the time my son bumped a dodge van in the rear at a red light and bent the hood (bonnet). My daughter had already got use the pick-up and she decided to sell the bug. So now it has a new paint job and all these other new parts.
New parts include..........
carburetor
cooling fan
harmonic balance
fuel pump
spark plugs
plug wires
rotor button
distributor cap
fuel lines
drive belt for alternator (it has been changed from a generator to an alternator)
the following parts are not new but have low miles since they were replaced while she drove it.
Almost new parts include........
ball joints in the front, both upper and lower
one new dust boot on one of the rear axles
fuel gauge in dash
speedometer in dash
sending unit in gas tank
front tires
the "new" date is on the battery it is not very old but do not have the date right now.
There are a few cool upgrades that make this a positive purchase compared to a normal 1968 bug.
It has drop spindles and disc brakes on the front.
It has a hotter (bigger) engine, it has a 1967 dash (they are "more cool" and sought after in the bug circles) I do not know how many CC's the engine is but i can tell you it runs good has lots of pep.
has a sexy wood grain steering wheel
A good sounding stereo (it got special attention at bug shows for the speakers mounted in antique suit cases) My daughter had the stereo out last year and she did not get it back in right and i do not have time to mess with it, so we will leave that to the next owner
There are a few negative things to point out.......
both door glasses are cracked
there is a little rust showing on the front bumper (as shown in picture)
it needs the door window track replaced, it is original and tired
the upholstery door skins could also use and upgraded.
The car is also listed locally so i reserve the right to end auction early, come and give it a test drive. The mileage stated in the ebay add is NOT correct we do not know what the actual miles are, it is an older restoration (years before we got it) and hey it is a 1968 so God only knows but ebay requires a number.
