1970 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Bar Conversion Description

The VW bus has always had a reputation for being a party on wheels, but this 1970 Volkswagen Bus with a bar conversion takes it to a whole new level. Designed to roll in, open up, and let the party begin just about anywhere, it's the purest kind of fun on wheels we can imagine. OK, it's not a show piece, but that really isn't the point if you're going to take a Sawzall to your VW....It's all standard VW sheetmetal, but they've created something truly unique by opening up the roof on a hinge and creating a drop-down shelf on the driver's side that's perfectly situated to be a walk-up beverage bar. The blue and black vinyl wrap job has a satin finish, so it's low maintenance while still looking cool, and this bus doesn't look like it's ever spent time in a place where winter is a factor. It's clean. The rest is pretty stock, including the giant VW emblem on the nose, the giant windshield, and the little taillights out back. To keep the party going at night, there are purple halo LEDs in the headlights and plenty of accent LEDs under the chassis so people will be able to find you no matter what. Appropriate decals cover the back of the bus, giving it the right vibe and even though they're a little scuffed, the bumpers fit well and aren't bent or rusty. From behind the wheel, this VW bus feels like any other. Two bucket seats, an upright steering column, and minimalist gauges are familiar to just about everyone who has driven one of these before. Rubber floors are low maintenance and there's an AM/FM/CD stereo in the dash, although you probably won't need it. Why? Because the party starts in back, where the rear seats have been removed and a custom bar top installed. Rubber floors are low maintenance and there are built-in cabinets for, you know, stuff. Fold down the side and open the roof and there's room to stand behind the bar and serve your friends, and while it's not perfect, it's just about right when you want to have fun without worries. There's also a kickin' stereo system with subwoofers and other speakers built into a custom enclosure, plus a large TV screen that's in just about the right spot. There's also a little sink, just in case. Get in and go start the festivities! Power comes from VW's reliable 1600 cc flat-four, and while it isn't fast, it will definitely get you where you want to go. It's a low-demand machine that seems ideally suited to duty in this particular bus. It starts reliably and runs great, with a smooth-shifting 4-speed manual transmission that has well-spaced ratios. Service access is unaffected by the bar up top, and there's evidence of recent work throughout. The underside is original but in good shape, and it's refreshing to see just how simple the VW bus really is. The steering tracks straight, the brakes are confident, and the ride is surprisingly compliant, especially with the gear in back. Nobody will complain about the ride. It also has the same cheerful exhaust note as the Beetle and a few LED lights look great at night. Standard Steel wheels with chrome hubcaps are the right choice and carry 195/75/14 radials with lots of life left in them. No, it's not for everyone, but if you tailgate, go to cookouts, or just like hanging out in your garage, this VW offers a lot of fun for not a lot of cash. Call today!
