1981 Volkswagen Caddy

Offered for auction is our 1981 Volkswagen Caddy which has been here with us at our Volkswagen dealership since 2007. We purchased the car as a showroom novelty, as a performance car, and because our owner loves unusual Volkswagens. (Wait till you see the 2001 Eurovan with R32 Motor and the 1978 Dasher we'll be listing!!)

When we bought the car it was already fitted with a big-valve 1.8 (GTI 8-valve motor) said to be good for about 115 bhp; we drove the car back from Atlanta and I'd say the horsepower claim is accurate. It has Mk 1 GTI coil-over suspension on the front and leaf springs on the rear. The handling is phenomenal, I would not hesitate to do a Club track-day with it. Techtonics cat-back, Techtonics headers, custom mid-pipe. Sounds awesome, but not too loud.

SINCE WE GOT IT:
* Round Headlight Conversion: Involved replacing both front fenders, radiator and core-support, front bumper, front lip, round-headlight grill. Hella 'Cross-Hair' Headlights.
* Complete Paint & Body Restoration
* Custom Interior with shaved Scirocco leather seats wrapped in leather and suede. Custom dash with all Autometer gauges, custom stereo, new carpets
* Customised engine bay with powder-coated strut-bar and other powder-coated parts
* Spec Miata Lightweight alloys with sticky Toyo R888 Rubber

Beautiful running/driving example of the rare VW Caddy with a Big Valve 1.8. Freshly painted and custom interior. A couple of things on the interior need finishing: Glove-box door, Trim around shifter and shift knob need refitting. Also missing lower body moulding both sides.

The Deposit:

Tax, Title and License:
Local residents are responsible for applicable sales tax in your county as well as title and licensing fees. Depending on the state you reside in, we may be able to collect your tax, title and license fees. If not, you are responsible for the tax, title and license fees in your area.

Note: If the deposit is not received within 24 hours (1 business day) or if the sale is not complete within 7 days of the close of the auction, we reserve the right to sell to the next highest bidder or to another qualified buyer and report the original winning bidder to eBay.

Shipping is at the buyer's expense, however we can help to arrange shipping straight to your door.

Seller reserves the right to end this listing at anytime should the vehicle no longer be available for sale. Professional pre-purchase inspections are welcome but must be made before the auction ends. We have described the above mentioned vehicle to the best of our ability. However, we recommend that the potential buyer fly out to inspect as well as test drive any of the vehicles before finalizing purchase. If your personal inspection is not possible, we will be glad to help facilitate an inspection by your chosen local independent service center and will make arrangements to deliver the vehicle to them for this purpose.
