This 1965 Volkswagen Sand Rail is simply bad ass! From the Dark Green Metallic powder coated frame to the built 1,600 CC Volkswagen engine, this thing is pure unadulterated fun! Built by East Coast Sand Rail of Creedmoor North Carolina, this is a high-end sand rail. ESCR has over 30 years of experience building custom sand rails, and their attention to detail shines through with this particular example. Let's start with the drivetrain. A built 1,600 CC VW engine is... topped off with more EMPI parts than you can count. EMPI intakes, dual carburetors, valve covers and shifter for starters and just about every piece of chrome you can buy to dress up the engine. Big chrome headers look cool and give this sand rail an amazing sound. Putting that power to the job is handled by a 4-speed manual transmission and 33x12.50R15 Mickey Thompson Baja Claw rear tires! Up front we have skinny low noise radial tires in 145R15 on matching alloy wheels. The attention to detail is impressive with the green powder coating carrying on to the wheel center caps and some of the steering and suspension parts. We have a VW style front end that is all chrome with a chrome steering stabilizer added to keep this beauty as straight as possible at high speeds. In the rear we have coil over shocks and disc brakes that provide more than enough stopping power. Two black vinyl bucket seats are comfortable and easy to clean after a day of fun. Harnesses keep you secure as you tear through the dunes or trails and the quick release steering wheel makes getting in and out a breeze. Once inside you are greeted with AutoMeter white face gauges, storage via a frame bag and an ammo box, which has also been powder coated the same green. The battery is covered nicely with a billet hold down, and a Moroso battery cut off switch makes sure you're never left stranded with a dead battery. For additional information, please visit .
