1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia (New Engine with 2k Miles)
1985 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Description
My fiancee and I have decided to sell our beloved 85 Vanagon Westfalia Camper as we are moving and cannot take it with us. It's a clean camper van with many thoughtful upgrades, it had been consciously maintained, and ready for you. We loved our time with this van and spent 6 months last year traveling full time.
You are looking at a van that has most of the headaches taken care of and is ready to take camping.
We just had a VW mechanic put a new/rebuilt engine in about 2k miles ago; however, the odometer reads ~173,000 miles. It drives like a champ. Recently drove it down to Santa Barbara for SMOG, and we had no issues. (It passed and is for the 2019 year. So you're good on SMOG for 2 years)
We have made a few upgrades/changes; however, we still have most of the original parts. Feel free to ask why we did so if you are curious. The upgrades we have done are below:
-Removed all curtains and put in magnetic blackout curtains
-Removed original fridge (based upon GoWesty recommendations). We use a Coleman thermoelectric cooler that we would be willing to throw in. Some people keep the fridge door and make this storage. (We still have the door)
-Added new floors (as seen in the picture).
-Upgraded the sink faucet to the GoWesty recommendation
-Upgraded sink pump to GoWesty recommendation
-Treated the Pop-Top canvas in 2018 with appropriate spray for water repellent. Did this as a preventative measure, not because we had an issue.
-Built a custom center console since it did not come with one.
-Replaced old outlet with a GFCI outlet
-Replaced old cigarette lighter with modern 20amp DC power
-Replaced lights in the light bar with 3 LEDs.
-Replaced the old skylight with a new GoWesty one.
There is also a long list of mechanical upgrades/fixes that I am willing to send you on request. All the mechanical work was done in 2017 and 2018. We have all the receipts to show. The main things are below:
-Rebuilt 1.9L engine
-New Battery
-New shifter rod with new GoWesty tabs
-New Alternator
-New belts
-New hoses
-New Starter
-New ignition coil
-Added GoWesty Overheating alarm
-New brake pads
-Flushed braked system
-New master cylinder
I also want to be transparent the van does have some minor rust. It is all cosmetic. I am more than glad to send any specific pictures of it. There is not any rust on the new engine.
If you have any questions, let me know. I'm more than glad to send you more pictures, or even a video of the van. The title is clean, and we can have it in hand. The vehicleis sold AS IS, and we will not release the vehicle until funds clear.
