1969 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Standard Description

1969

VW Classic Beetle

VIN: 119765266

I’m often asked where we find these unique, original cars. A close friend cruises parking lots of local retirement homes, the Elks club, V.F.W halls and the back alleys of a well-known neighborhood here in Seattle formerly with lots of retired Scandinavian fishermen. He can spot a seatbelt slammed in a car door a mile away… He even notices when a vehicle drives down the road with a turn signal left on just a little too long and he positively twitches with glee when passing a rig with metal bumpers!

If you’re in the market for a well-kept daily driver please give this nice vintage Beetle your kind attention. It belongs to close family friends and is reluctantly being offered only because of their son's medical emergency. You’re welcome to contact me with questions or to discuss a sale before the end of the Ebay listing. My name is Mark and I can be reached at 206/914-1173 (text is OK).

CONDITION:
The photos really tell the car’s story. We believe it’s been here in western Washington state most all its life. After a good look-over and 20-minute drive it was pretty easy to tell the rig’s been pampered. I’ve never encountered a 60’s vintage ride with tighter, effortless non-power steering; one that drives down the road straight and has no brake pull. I take pride in the vehicles we’re able to offer here on Ebay and feel you should know as much about them as possible. I believe, with the exception of mechanical replacements, this classic is about as stock and original as one could possibly hope to find. Here’s what I know:

The first question I’m always asked is about rust. Well, this classic HATES rust and you’ll be very hard pressed to find anything here to worry about. Yes, the Puget Sound region gets its share of drizzle, but rarely any snow so our winter roads aren’t salted. One snowflake and everyone stays home. Besides, the car hasn’t seen a winter road in years! Climb over, under and throughout, I know you’ll come up smiling.

One turn of the key and the strong 1493 CC, 53 Horse air-cooled motor fires right up with just one pump of the gas pedal, even when cold. The four speed shifts smoothly, just like it should, with NO clutch slippage. The stick has been modified with a custom short-throw T-handle shifter. I really like it!

As you see in my un-retouched photos (all were taken on 8/15/2019), the overall exterior is above average having had a respray sometime in the past to the factory-original beige/tan color. I don’t know how many years it’s been, but I’d grade it still at nine out of ten. The windshield glass is good with no chips or cracks. All four solid steel wheels are wrapped with 50+% remaining radials and wear their original “dog-dish” hubcaps. This Bug really is a blast to drive and absolutely turns heads everywhere you go!

Take another look at the interior pics. I’m pretty sure the upholstery was redone by a previous owner and I grade it also at 9 out of 10. No wear-through spots or splitting seams anywhere front or back. The original Sapphire XVIII AM radio is still in the dash, but doesn’t seem to work. Also, the fiberboard of the passenger door card is warped outward around the window crank making it hard to roll up or down. A small, but annoying thing to address.

Please check all the photos over closely and call me with any questions BEFORE you place a bid! You’re encouraged to stop by, inspect the Volkswagen (or have a professional do it) and take it for a test drive as it is being “sold as-is, where-is” with a free & clear Washington State title. There are NO title brands for any nasty negatives like salvage history, theft or flood damage to cause you concern!

Because of the amount of money involved with a vehicle purchase, I reserve the right to cancel your bid if you have any negative feedback.I also ask that potential bidders with a feedback rating of five or fewer transactions on Ebay contact me before placing their bids either through EBay’s message system or, as outlined above, call me at206/914-1173. My name isMARK. You might also consider making an offer as many of my vehicles sell to smart “early birds” that contact me to work out a deal prior to the auction’s end. I always reserve the right to sell during this period.

Many of my past buyers from as far away as Alaska, Arizona, the Midwest, Canada, Florida, New York and even the Mexican Baja have flown in here to Seattle and then started a road trip home the same day in their purchase. While I'm very confidant this classic could handle a long-distance drive, it’s 52 years old and has earned the right to do short sprints over a full-blown triathalon. Shipping usually equals (or is cheaper) when all the ancillary costs are added in – and no flat tires to deal with in the middle of nowhere either. As a respected Ebay seller with many satisfied online buyers, I want you to bid with confidence knowing that the car runs and drives out as it should AND that it is being properly represented to you! Please don’t be upset if I miss a minor flaw or some issue comes up. NO used vehicle is ever perfect.

A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:

The entire purchase price is due by cash (in-person only), a wire transfer or other certified funds within seven days of the auction closing. I can accept credit and/or debit cards but will need to first send an invoice from our card processor and ask that the 3.5% fee charged by them be added. Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends.

Full payment is due by cash (in person only) or certified funds within seven business days unless prior arrangements have been made with me. I can accept credit or debit cards, but I’ll first need to invoice you and ask that you cover the 3.5% fee our processor charges us. Please remember you’re bidding to buy and I fully expect the winner to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the car later -- You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends. I've done my best to describe the car as honestly as possible and encourage bidders to contact me with questions. The information described above is based on the observed condition when listed. If you do decide to have theV-Dub shipped home, I can facilitate transport through the Central Dispatch System. We can post a competitive offer to your location directly to scores of shippers (usually on a COD basis) and will likely get the best rate available as there will be no broker middle-man involved.
