1983 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Description
Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon . Condition is Used.This is a great one. Completely replaced interior set up for boondocking with hot water & shower.Well maintained by previous owners and myself. The underside is perfect. Factory spray undercoating reveals perfect condition (see pic) I dont drive her in snow or rain.
Rebuilt motor with 2.1 liter case, valves, pistons etc. completely gutted interior of camper and treated minimal surface rust behind kitchen cabinet.LED lights installed all around replacing all bulbs.Replaced upholstery and foam bed/bench seat. Replaced cabinets with IKEA units and butcherblock countertop with undermount stainless steel sink. Added 6 gallon Suburban LP/Electric water heater. Installed exterior RV shower valve; installed RV water pump on dual Auxiliary/Shore power switch; two 5 gallon potable water jerry cans (blue) and one 5 gallon gray water jerry can (black) on sink drain (which can be diverted to hose connection drain under van; Also replaced rear heater coil and housing; stereo, pop-up tent with three window tent; front dash euro-jack with dual 2.1 USB outlet; side mirrors with truck mirrors from Campervan Culture; front and rear suspension with Van Cafe 2WD lift springs/Bilstein shocks, all bushings, Menfro African steelie wheels and AT tires; rear hatch struts, fuel tank seals and vents as well as all fuel lines, replaced city water connection with GoWesty quick connect, Vanagain HALO LED headlights with Amber halo turn signals; Added a small cabinet behind passenger seat for addition storage. (Can be removed); Replaced LP tank valves; replaced slider door latch and bushings; had all locks keyed to match by Steve’s lock shop through the Vanagon Owners Group on FB; BZ pop-up shelf installed; Replaced all wood structure in camper from subfloor to bench frame and upper bunk floor; Installed vinyl floor tiles (will include extra tiles for future replacements/repairs). GoWesty’s Fridge vent blocking panel installed but vent was left for possible future use)BenT’s front clamshell extension allowing use for fake spare tire garage (parts seen in pic included, i.e. extra fuel line, couple of Mann oil filters, couple of alternator belts)Professionally designed & installed auxiliary (2) 6v battery system installed with Victron combiner, Blue Seas circuit panel. Only a few slots used (water pump, usb/charge readout, 12v jack, dual 2.1 USB jacks on face of bench).Blazecut fire suppression system installed on engine compartment door.Gary Lee hatchback Rack with mount for Jerry can, spare tire (all 5 wheels & tires from Van Cafe) and Hi-Lift Jack on top, with built in ladder steps for accessing top. Also has a 3/4 width fold down shelf. Campervan Culture door pockets installed, Driver’s and passenger’s.Added a Lucky’s Fab Shop A/C window mount with a small window unit (as seen in the Driver’s window while summer camping in pics).She’s ready for solar and a LP heater install. (I never got as far as solar or shore electric but I will include the 2 new GoWesty shore power electric hookup I have (water heater can be ran off shore power when ran through installed dual switch, as well as water pump).I will include the original hardware for upper bunk
BenT’s hatchback lock extension, A/C unit (less than 50 hours on it) & rubbermade tote, wheel chocks and levelers, 25’ gray water hose and two 25’ potable water hoses, 4” sewer drain hose connection, rubbermade tote including ratchet straps (for attaching to hatchback rack shelf).Several things left to do that are perfect for your customization. For instance the headbanger cabinet was never rebuilt. Nor the kitchen gutter shelf. I had an arm surgery when it came time to create rear cabinets so I simply installed 4 aluminum cabinets with Phillips screws. All 4 and their wood base can easily be removed. Lights are ready to run and there are 9 circuits open in the 12 fuse Blue Seas block.We will provide a complete list and receipts for all updates and parts installed.ARB awning (8’x12’) mounted with security bolts to prevent theft.8’x12’ ARB awning room with doors front and back as well as mosquito screen throughout. (As seen in pics, will include outdoor carpet used to protect it from the ground)Edited to add: forgot to mention that I added sound dampening insulation to the interior of the walls as well as the entire camper floor. Also spray glued double bubble insulation to the floors and interior of the walls as well. (See progress pic)No “kitchen wall rust”.
