1973 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Description

AWESOME&GROOVY1973VWWESTFALIACAMPERBUS ASFOUND!!I BELIEVE IT WAS TITLED AS A 1973 AS ALL OF THE VIN TAGS INVOLVING THE CAMPER ARE 09 /1972 & A 10/1972 COMPLETED DATE I WAS TOLD BY ANOTHER EBAY WHO IS FAMILIAR WITH THESE BUSES AND HE SAID ANYTHING BUILT OCT 72 & LATER WOULD MAKE IT A 1973 ? THE CAMPER VIN IS 23320XXXXX & IT ALSO HAS A RIVETED TAG & VIN STICKER IN THE DOOR JAM AREA AS SUCH. THE BUS VIN LOWER LEFT WINDSHIELD IS 23620XXXXXTHIS IS A BILL OF SALE ONLY / NO TITLE/ SOLD AS IS !!!
IF YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING A A FUN PROJECT WITH A TON OF POTENTIAL THIS MAY JUST BE IT. ALTHOUGH I AM BAY FAR A VW EXPERT / GURU - I HAVE BEEN INTO VINTAGE CARS & BIKES FOR 4 + DECADES & HAVE RESTORED MANY VINTAGE VEHICLES. I WOULD REALLY HATE TO SEE THIS ONE PARTED OUT AS IT TRULY HAS A LOT OF GOOD POTENTIAL GOING FOR IT AND BY FAR A PARTS VEHICLE IN MY OPINION, AND IT WOULDN'T COST A FORTUNE TO RESTORE IT. BUT I UNDERSTAND THE NEW OWNER WILL HAVE THERE OWN INTENTIONS. I AM A VERY HONEST SELLER SO IF THERE IS ANYTHING ADDITION AS FAR AS QUESTIONS OR SOMETHING YOU WANT ME TO CHECK OUT PLEASE ASK. I ALSO HAVE ANOTHER VW BUS CAMPER "SPORTSMOBILE PENTHOUSE" ( MORE OF A GOOD PARTS VEHICLE WITH A COMPLETE DRIVE TRAIN - BUT I AM SURE IT COULD BE RESTORED ) THAT I MAY DECIDE TO OFFER AS AN ADDITION SALE TO WHO EVER PURCHASES THIS ONE FIRST UNLESS SOMEONE HAS A SERIOUS NEED & INTEREST IN THE PENTHOUSE VERSION. THESE WERE ACQUIREDLOCALLY FROM A REAL ESTATE INVESTOR AS HE INHERITEDTHEM ON THE PREMISES. HE WAS VERY LEGAL CONSCIOUSAND FILED THE APPROPRIATE REPORT WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT AND THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH WITH EITHER ONE OF THEM, BESIDESTHERE ARE NO TITLES DO TO THEM BEING ABANDON, BUT I WILL PROVIDE A BILL OF SALE. JUST TO BE CLEAR THIS SALE IS FOR THIS 1973 VW WESTFALIA KOMBI CAMPER ONLY !! SO YOU WILL HAVE TO FILE FOR A NEW TITLE / DO YOUR RESEARCH AS I LIVE IN OHIO AND OHIO RESIDENTS CAN NOW APPLY FOR TITLES FOR VINTAGE VEHICLES & MOTORCYCLES AND I BELIEVE ITS APPROX A $300.00 FEE. TO THE SPECIFICS & CONDITION
THE BODY - ALL & ALL NOT HORRIBLE BY NO MEANS & VERY RESTORE-ABLE. THE UNDERSIDE / FLOORS APPEAR TO BE VERY NICE AND SOLID WITH ONLY SOME SURFACE RUST. THE WHEEL WELL LIPS HAVE HAD SOME AMATEURBONDO WORK DONE MANY YEARS AGO BUT THEY ARE VERY REPAIRABLE & NOT A CRAZY AMOUNT OF FILLER IN THEM. THE LOWER ROCKERS WILL NEED TO BE RE-WORKED / REPAIRED. ALL OF THE DOORS WORK & THE SIDE SLIDER LOWER SEAM WILL SOME WORK AS I CAN SEE IT WAS PATCHED UP MANY YEARS AGO. THE FRONT END IS VERY NICE INCLUDING THE WIPER AREA WERE I HAVE SEEN THESE COMMONLY RUST / THIS ONE LOOKS GREAT. THE REAR PANEL BELOW THE ENGINE DOOR WILL NEED REPLACED. THE REAR BUMPER IS SOLID BUT HAS A COUPLE HOLES. THE REAR QUARTERS WILL NEED SOME ATTENTION BUT IN MY OPINION THEY WOULD BE AN EASY REPAIR.THE GLASS IS ALL REAL NICE AND THE ONLY ONE TO REALLY TALK ABOUT IS THE WINDSHIELD WHICH HAS A CRACK ON THE LOWER DRIVERS CORNER WHICH WONT GO ANY FURTHER. ONE OR TWO CHIPS AND SOME WIPER MARKS, BUT YOU COULD DRIVE IT WITH THE WINDSHIELD AS IS WITH OUT A PROBLEM.THE WESTFALIA LID LOOKS TO BE IN GREAT CONDITION.
THE INTERIOR - IS THE PLUS POSITIVE AND IT IS IN PRETTY REMARKABLE CONDITION FOR A 48 YEAR OLD 1972 VW BUS THAT'S BEEN PARKED FOR MANY MOONS AND NOTHING LOOKS TO HAVE NEVER BEEN MODIFIEDDOWN TO THE OLD PATINA RIDDEN CURTAINS. THE FRONT DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS SEAT ARE IN GREAT ORIGINAL CONDITION / WITH NO MAJOR TEARS SPLITS ETC. ONE OR SO SMALL CRACK OPPOSITE THE SEAM ON THE DRIVERS LOWER CUSHION. THE DASH & ITS COMPONENTS ALL LOOK COMPLETE & IN REAL NICE SHAPE AND IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL AM RADIO. THE ODOMETER READS 09527 AND ACCORDING TO THE OIL CHANGE STICKERS IT IS MORE THAN LIKELY 109,527 AS I HAVE NO OTHER WAY TO ACTUALLY CERTIFY THE MILEAGE.I JUST LOVE THE CAMPER INTERIOR AS IT JUST SCREAMS 1970'S GROOVY !!! YOU CAN TELL IT WASN'T ABUSED OR ALTERED. THE SINK & REFRIGERATOR (NOT TESTED) BUT ARE IN GREAT PHYSICAL LOOKING SHAPE. SO ARE THE CABINETS, TABLE CUSHIONS ETC. NOT NEW BUT VERY NICE AND ORIGINAL. IF WILL NEED A GOOD CLEANING BUT NOT GROSS A COUPLE SIGNS OF SOME PREVIOUS MICE VISITORS BUT NOTHING TORN UP FROM WHAT I CAN SEE & I AM SURE MOST OF THE INTERIOR WILL LOOK AWESOME - I AM SURE THERE WILL BE SOME MINOR REPAIRS TO THINGS. THE TOP SEAMS TO OPERATE LIKE IT SHOULD AND THE CANVASS I AM SURE WILL NEED REPLACE BUT NOT HORRIBLE FOR HOW OLD IT IS. THE HAMICK IS IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE OVERALL AND ONE SMALL REPAIR WILL BE NEEDED AS WELL. BUT FOR PUSHING 50 YEARS OLD AND ORIGINA, MAKES IT PRETTY INCREDIBLE & I LOVE KEEPING MY THINGS AS ORIGINAL AS POSSIBLE / THEY ARE ONLY ORIG. ONCE.......THE MECHANICS - ARE AS IS / UNTESTED, BUT COMPLETE.BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS THE ENGINE IS NOT FROZE UP, AND IT DOES CRANK OVER, SOMEONE HAD ADDED A STARTER BUTTON BY THE IGNITION SWITCH, AND THE LIGHTS / ELECTRICAL ALSO WORKS FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD.THE TIRES ARE SHOT FROM DRY ROT & SOME DO LEAK. (BUT THE TIRES HAVE NO FUNNY WEAR ON THE FRONT END INDICATING THE STEERING / FRONT-END COMPONENTS SHOULD BE GOOD) THE SPARE WAS PUT ON THE RIGHT REAR DOES LEAK BUT WILL HOLD FOR A FEW DAYS AT-LEAST FOR NOW. THE VAN ROLLS EASY FOR TRANSPORTING ON A TRAILER.I PERSONALLY - IF I WASN'T SELLING THIS, WOULD GO THROUGH ALL OF THE MECHANICS, BRAKES, TIRES, CARB KITS, TUNE UP PARTS & ALL OF ITS REQUIRED MAINTENANCE, AND THEN GET IT BACK ON THE ROAD AND HAVE SOME FUN WITH IT & DO SOME OF THE BODY WORK IN BETWEEN AS YOU COULD HAVE A NICE FUN DRIVER WITH LITTLE MONEY INVESTED OR TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL AND DO A CONCOURSE RESTORATION. THE VAN DOES COME WITH THE ORIGINAL TIRE JACK TOOL KIT IN ITS ORIGINAL POUCH, THE ORIGINAL CAMPER OPERATING INSTRUCTION MANUAL. VW BUS OPERATING MANUAL, THE ORIGINAL WIRING SCHEMATIC, BOTH IGNITION KEYS & I AM ALSO INCLUDING A SUPER RARE ORIGINAL VW BUS REPAIR MANUAL (THIS MANUAL WAS STUFFED IN THE GLOVE BOX OF THE OTHER VW BUS AND IS PRETTY ROUGH FROM MICE BUT ITS STILL VERY USE-ABLE & READABLE, AND ITS THE ORIG. VW REPAIR MANUAL / I JUST COULDN'T PITCH IT.)
I WILL BE POSTING MORE PICTURES & WE ARE LOCATED IN NORTH EAST OHIO 44046 ABOUT 35 MIN. EAST OF CLEVELAND OHIO
IT IS THE BUYERS RESPONSIBILITY TO FUND & MAKE THERE OWN ARRANGEMENTS FOR REMOVAL. I CANNOT STORE FOR ANYTHING LONG TERM AS IT IS BEING STORED IN MY GARAGE AND I NEED THE SPACE FOR MY NEW CAR.YOU WILL WANT EITHER A FLAT BED OR TRAILER / NOT A CAR DOLLY OR WHEEL LIFT AS IT IS NOT GOOD ON THE TRANSMISSION IN THE VW BUS MANUAL SHIFTING TRANSMISSIONS.
IF YOU A NEGATIVE OR A SUSPICIOUS EBAY I.D OR ARE NOT IN THE U.S YOUR BID WILL BE CANCELLED.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO VIEW IT OR SPEAK TO ME PLEASE CALL (440) 321-1786 AND LEAVE A MESSAGE IF NO ANSWER. THANKS, ROBERT
