Rust-free and extremely well detailed, finding such a first-generation Type 2 23-Window Bus is indeed a rare treat. This is the Bus that made VW people movers so popular. Nearly impossible to experience any claustrophobia, one account of the origins of the multi-window Bus, or Samba as they were known, is interesting—VW advertised them as excellent vehicles for tour companies to take people up and around the Alps and through scenic villages. These Sambas became known as the most upscale, luxurious VW busses of the time and were offered with a number of options and accessories to dress them up and personalize them accordingly. The 1967 model year would usher in the second-generation Type 2 Bus, eliminating the “V” nose, split windshield and many other unique and classic elements in an attempt to modernize the Bus. The end of the first generation also marked the end of the multi-window Sambas. First produced in 1951, Volkswagen largely perfected the idea of the early minivan, inspiring a number of other companies to follow suit with their own ideas of a small transporter, most popularly from Ford, Dodge and Chevrolet. This one, with its cheery color combination, is certain to bring smiles to anyone who sees it. Thanks for looking and continue to watch our website: for new Classic Car Inventory coming in daily!
