1970 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Description

Volkswagen Beetle - Classic . This is a no reserve auction. You are looking at an original 1970 survivor beetle that has been turned into a Rat Rod / Hot Rod. I took this car on trade for a recently finished sand rail buggy. This car has had its paint removed and a salt water spray bath to create the surface rust patina look. It is only a light surface rust and not pitted, it was done purposefully. I sanded the fenders and clear coated them for a contrasting look. The vintage body is very solid. I think the car looks awesome when wet, so if I kept it I would clearcoat the whole thing. The car has 4 brand new low profile tires, with dropped spindles in the front. It drives, shifts, and stops as it should. All glass is good, with optional pop-out style rear quarter windows. Both door glasses roll up and down fine. Doors open and close as they should. Head, tail, turn, backup, and hazard lights all work. The horn, fuel gauge, and wipers also work fine. The speedo showing 33xxx needs a new cable / housing to work. The radio is not hooked up. Appears to have the original interior. The engine is a single port 1500cc with a dual exhaust style header. The engine starts right up, idles and drives out great. It does not smoke or make any noises. The factory style heater has been deleted due to the header, but the previous owner has installed an electric heater under the dash. It plugs into a cigar lighter / power port. The original column mounted key switch was replaced with one hidden under the dash, as it had gotten defective. Still has the original key that fits the driver door, and it locks fine. I will try to add a few pics of the floor pan as soon as I get it jacked up. This car turns heads every time I drive it around the block. It had tags and insurance until it was traded to me. I currently have another sand rail and a Manx buggy to rebuild and just do not have the room to keep this car also. I have a used fiberglass Baja kit that the buyer can purchase separately ($250) if they are interested. Baja kit has 2 different hoods and several fenders, almost 2 kits in total. Please ask any questions, as I know I have forgotten something. Car is available for viewing most anytime. I would prefer you come see the car in person if possible if interested. I have added pics of the underside of the car. It will need some attention under the battery area. It has also been listed locally. The car is located in Metropolis IL 62960. Buyer is responsible for any shipping, I can help load if needed. I prefer CASH in person, NO CHECKS, NO WIRE TRANSFERS. I require a $100 non-refundable deposit within 24 hrs of the end of the auction. I do not need any help selling this car, thank you.
