1971 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Description

VWSuper Beetle – 1971

First year of the Super Beetle.Has the Macpherson strut suspension in thefront and the larger trunk, but still retained the flat windshield of thestandard Beetle.

Mileage shows 81,715. Cannot confirm but odometer was working when I bought the car.

Manual transmission

Clear Pennsylvania title

Full restoration, ground up over past three years.Note: no rust repairs were needed!

New suspension parts:

· =Front suspension bushings

· =control arms.

· =Sway bar bushings

· =Macpherson struts in front

· =Shock absorbers in rear

· =Rear suspension bushings in spring arm and control arm (lot of labor to do this)

New brake system

·Brake master cylinder

·Front disk brakes with new rotors and pads

·All brake hoses

·Rear disk brakes (rare upgrade)with new rotors, pads.Includes emergency brakes.

Engine

· =Professionally rebuilt long block and heads.1641 cc

· =Professionally rebuilt Solex 34Pict3 (Tim @volkzbitz.com)

· =New rubber fuel lines, fuel filter (in correct location under the gas tank, not near carb)

· =Restored, original fuel tank to remove rust/crud.

·All, original air-cooled sheet metal in place, including the thermostat

·New engine bay insulation (black, tar boards)appropriate to Beetles.

·Pertronix (electronic) distributor with vacuum advance SVDA (no points required)

·New ignition wires

·New coil

·New bushings in oil cooler (prevents oil leaks)

·New clutch and throw out bearing.

·Added charcoal cannister (old one) over rear wheel to fuel recovery system (it was missing)

·New fuel filler hose (between gas tank and gas cap)

Interior

· =New headliner (cream color)

· =New seat covers (cream color) and seat foam in front and rear

· =New carpets (black)

· =New (modern) seat belts, front and rear

· =New door panels

· =New trim around windows

· =New rubber around door openings

·Retro look radio with aux input (for playing music from iPhone or Android)

·New trunk liner (carpet)
