1976 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Description

1976 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper Van - For Restoration. Condition is For parts or not working. Hi Folks, what we have here is a very restorable 1976 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper Va, Type 2.This van was purchased from Californi, and sent by tractor trailer shippers to Texas. It was only ran for a year and a valve burnt out on the head. The engine (Porsche 2.0 Liter),was removed and sent to a Porsche 2.0 Liter rebuild specialist Randall Brown of Comfor, Texas.Randall built this engine on the original VW assembly line, and is considered one of only three specialists that I am aware of in the United States that can effectively rebuild these 2.0 Porsche engines. He is very adept at what he does, and knows all the modifications and improvements in desig, for power and reliability. He completely rebuilt this Porsche 2.0 liter engine, sparing no details. It cost me over $5000. for this job, and Randall started the engine for me and it purred like a kitten,(I believe it has only run 1/2 hour or less). The engine would need your choice of carburetors when installed,Randall recommender Kadron Carburetors. If you want me to get the carbs, that would have to reflect in the price. The engine has been kept and protected in a climate controlled storage, as not to be affected by the weather and those God-Awful mud dauber wasps that can infiltrate engines and leave blobs of mud to ruin the engine. I believe that Randall Brown would offer any help needed for installation and running of the engine, I found him to be a very nice Man, and a font of knowledge on these Porsche 2.0 liter engines. Now the Van: The van needs some metal welded in the engine compartment, and a couple of rust spots. This is not a Northern van and has very little rust. The front of the van has some minor denting in the body metal between the headlights, we did not know about until we removed the spare front tire. Also there are small rust spots where rust has come through the body filler and paint.I would say the body is a solid 85%.The van of course needs the engine (turn-key, to be installed and some updates that are easiest to do with the engine out, ie. e. throttle cable, clutch cable, and shift kit.The van is relatively clean. The pop up top works and the canvas and screen are in good condition. As far as the sink, the inverter, refrigerator, and the gas stove working, I don't know the status of their workin, as we only camped a couple of times in the van, and we did not use these systems.Cabinets are in fair condition, usually ALL the veneer has peeled off of these, but not this one.The photos reflect the condition of the van fairl, but this van is a PROJECT!I have many parts for the van that were sandblasted and painted, sandblasted and ready for finish, new parts, lots of extra parts. The brakes are new, fair tires all around,The van has a custom made tow hitch installed and is ready to be towed anywhere! If you buy this va, I will make some commitments. Before you come to pick it up,I will do a comprehensive cleaning of the van, help you hitch it up, be forthright about the title, again marked "Rebuild",because of the back pan, which are usually replaced a few times and with their serial numbers stamped in the metal.I would love to answer any questions about the van if you contact me.I want you to be assured of the information on this va, and not be disappointed when you arrive to pick it up.I have worked on cars my entire life (61 now), and I think with a bit of elbow grease, parts and mechanical attention, this could be a valuable project.I believe that with the necessary update, repair, metal work, and engine installed correctl, is an instantly $20,000-$25,000 vehicle. If you have experience with cars as I do, you know that most restorations on hot-rods and classic cars are upside dow, and end up being black holes to throw money in, and you rarely have any value above what you spent. This is not one of those, these vans have been commanding strong money lately, and the fun factor is off the chain! A great project during quarantine and isolatio, have it completely ready for camping by Spring of 2021, ( Notice to you Family guys)! You must pick this van up in Alvin (Houston Area) Texas, I can arrange to have it shippe, but you must come to Texas first, to look at the van and accept it.Please, look on "The Samba" website to see the ruste, beat up, amateur modified, hulks of vans they are asking $15,000 for, this is a great value!!
