1975 Volkswagen Kombi with a 2.2 Subaru Repower. Like Westy Sportsmobile.
1975 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Description
In my best "Men at Work" singing voice, .."Traveling in a Fried Out Kombi, .. on a Hippy trail head full of Zombie,.."
Well here you go, you can sing that song and own your very own Kombi, But this one is not Fried out, It is actually pretty cool.
This is a 1975 Volkswagen Transporter with the Kombi Pop Top Camper. The other cool part is that it has the 2.2 Subaru Motor Conversion. It actually has Power and you can drive it up a mountain without holding up a half mile of traffic behind you.
It runs strong and drives great, the tires look like new, has newer shocks, anti sway bars, and the conversion looks like it was done properly, but we have no idea when it was done and the miles on the motor. We were told that it had a recent timing belt done. It has a new battery as well. Underneath has surface rust but is incredible solid. It has a new paint job that looks great but is not a show unit. At some point it had an accident so there is a rebuilt title as well. Most likely why it also has a new paint job.
Inside is in great great condition, the seat makes into a bed and there can be a bed in the pop top area as well. There is no HVAC in the dash but there is a heater under the bench seat in the back. It is now water cooled so it has a front radiator behind the extended grill. Again it all looks like it was done properly. The pop top works nicely and is in good shape but one of the zippers will have to be redone. The rest of the canvas is in nice condition.
I freely admit that I am not a VW Van Expert, far from it, so If I have messed anything up on this description please let me know. I am happy to learn. Also We did not build this unit, we purchased as you see it, so I have no idea the actual miles on the van, on the Subaru Motor, or when it was installed. It is as it is. I would be happy to answer any further questions anytime. I can be reached at 616-318-0118
