1963 Volkswagen Double Cab
That's right.. I'm reluctantly selling my long sought after 63 Double Cab Bus.. As you would likely already have realized in your own search, inding a solid double cab here in the US is no easy task. I looked all over for quite some time to find the most solid example out there, hat hadn't been covered in some hot-wheels colored paint, r decked out to sky high standards that you wouldn't dare say, use the bus" for what it was built. What I found was what you see here, n extremely straight, sable, ostly original true VW enthusiasts driver quality double cab. If you’ve done any research you’ve likely noticed the following: finding a quality enjoyable condition double cab for the right price can take years- they are either rotted our non running for $30,000 +, r they are $75,000 “museum” buses that the average person will not be able to enjoy because they cashed in their pension to buy it and they’re terrified of a mosquito taking a 60 mph spill on the windshield! This is an affordable, eautiful, xcellent running and driving bus that is priced to sell and will be enjoyed the second you get it. Split window buses are difficult to find in good shape, ingle cabs are more so, ouble cabs are nearly impossible, ut you probably know that. Life comes up on you quick, nd I have to make a move in another direction that forces me to sell my collection, o here goes...
As I mentioned, his bus is a 1963. 1963 is a significant year to mention being the last of the 'baby window era'. I have owned a number of buses, nd other cars for that matter, ut have always sought after the earlier examples when they were available. Aside from maybe one other bus I have owned in the past, mong all my cars, his DC has gotten more conversations started, nd won more people’s attention and curiosity than the lot. The paint and restoration is driver quality and very presentable. The paint was done in VW Ruby Red which is exactly how it came from the factory. In my opinion one of THE best VW colors on the DC (I also love Turkis). The entire structural and arguable most often abused areas of this bus were either preserved, r in many areas completely and properly restored to near new conditions underneath. See pictures for this. One of the most important parts of buying a classic, specially a non galvanized German classic, s to buy solid, here it counts. This is as good as you'll find in that respect. All of the gates are straight and function as they should with any real past evidence of it being used commercially (as these were intended for) replaced or repaired and ready for service once again. The bed of the truck is in exceptional shape and the gates all line up as they should. Why they ever stopped making truck beds that open from the sides is beyond me! Several thousands of dollars spent recently on updating, onscious of era, he mechanical to make this bus a dependable 50 year old usable driver. Go to the beach, o to the lumber yard, o to the cruise nights, r go to the white mountains, nd you will steal the show wherever you stop it. It’s probably pretty obvious I'm going to miss having this one... Interior again is well preserved and tidied up with original appearance a huge priority. Uncut dash, ree of some walmart cd player, hifter free of some drilled out 8 ball knob, nd (though arguably appropriate) no dice on the mirror. Find a picture of a 63 DC in the year 1963, nd this is what you got. Rear windows are pop outs and most if not all rubber is brand new. Brakes and suspension just gone through, ires are great, ngine just rebuilt, ransmission healthy, nd exhaust sounds the way it should as it pulls you down the road. No clunking, rinding, queaking, ibrating, tc.
I also have some short video’s I put together here so you can see it running and driving, hich it does great! (I suggest being very cautious if buying a ‘running’ vehicle on Ebay without actually seeing it run in a video or in person, ome people use the term ‘running’ petty loosely). These videos and all of the pictures in the ad were taken within the past week or two, o no need to worry about anything having changed. She’s a great bus. Click Here For Pics & Videos!
Probably don't have to tell you this, ut you may be surprised on some people’s expectations. Please ask questions before bidding and do not bid if you’re not going to follow through. I'm not asking $75K because its not a $75k bus. One was just listed for that, nd this one is damn close, ut not quite that… this is a bus you can/will enjoy. She is over 50 years old and she belongs on the road not on the trailer, nd it should be used as these things were intended, ot just put in a garage to collect dust. How I have always preferred them myself. I further suggest taking your time to understand how to treat your classics, nd expect what anyone would have back when they were new regarding maintenance and so on. All that said this bus often gets the applause a $200K sports car could never compete with, o drive it, how it off, nd for petes sake put some cargo in the bed!

I am selling off a tediously built collection to move my life into a new chapter.
