1957 Volkswagen VW panel van bus original German postal truck USED IN GERMANY
1957 Volkswagen Other Description
1957 VW panel van. It was bought brand new in 1957 by the Federal Postal Administration and was used in Darmstadt Germany as a mail truck until about 1961 when it was imported to the US. The van was used as a Pennzoil delivery van until about 1963 when the van rear ended a car and was parked in the woods where it remained until i rescued it last year. there is no damage to the front end other then just cosmetic seen in pics. nothing structurally harmed. the floors are in need of replacement it has rust everywhere and the roof had been dented for a long period of time so it stretched the metal. i got the bulk of it out. The motor was rebuilt in 1962 so it was no suprise when i put oil in the cylinders and it spun right over. would make an awesome rat rod or restoration project. the story makes the car. NO TITLE but being a pre 1974 it should not be a problem. i have purchased a birth certificate (pictured) that shows who originally bought it and its original options. the certificate came directly from Volkswagen in Germany and they went through their archives to piece together all the info they had on it. it is a big project. have the drivers door and original "VW" for the front. Van in located in Watertown NY. and must be put on a trailer. i have tractors and equipment on my farm to load it or to load it for your shipper. getting them shipped isnt as expensive as it used to be and Ebay has free shipping quotes. last car quote was $350 from ohio to me which was about 500 miles. any questions feel free to ask anytime. thanks for looking
