Up for Bidd is my 1979 242 GT with 177k original miles. This as an excellent example of a rare car and this GT is in above average condition.
The motor is strong and runs very well, I would drive it anywhere. There are zero oil leaks or fluid leaks of any kind andI had a brand new clutch and clutch cable professionally installed within the last 500 miles.
The body is also very very good with straight body panels and decent paint. It is a respray and is pretty nice but the clearcoat is peeling on the roof, and the hood has some blemishes that are noticeable if you are up close. There are only two small rust spots starting, one on the drivers rear where the mudflap mounts to the body and a nickle sized spot in front of the passenger rear wheel well.
The Interior is also in fantastic shape with no tears on the cloth and zero cracks on dash. Some sun fading on the rear seat top.
The suspension has been fully upgraded with HD endlinks with poly bushings, IPD lowering springs, Bilstien HD shocks and struts and an IPD sport exhaust.
This particular car has factory A/C(needs charge?), Cruise control(inop), and sunroof(works).
All other electronics work as they should, fan motor, dash lights, headlights+fog lights, rear defrost, wipers and sprayer, signals and Overdrive all work as they should.
If there were anything that will need attention down the road, it would be the paint if you wanted something more show car, otherwise it makes for the perfect daily driver paint. The idle air valve is sticky, some cold starts are better than others, and the heater valve gets stuck open. It lets hot air through all the time unless you keep the REC button pushed.
Aside from those few things this GT is really in just fantastic shape. It get looks everywhere it goes and I put it in the occasional car show where it gets a lot of compliments!I am also including a few extra parts with the sale that I haven't got around to installing, and it also has a few cool things like the original owners handwritten log book of all his service, gas, etc. which is kinda cool. My reserve is not outrageous either so bidd to win! All in all for a 38 year old 242 GTit is a really terrific car and a true survivor. Sold as-is. If you have any questions about specific items just let me know. I'm happy to get specific photos if needed. Good luck and happy bidding!
