Thisautomobile is a once in a lifetime car. You are bidding as you can see from one of the photographs for the Volvo that adorned Volvo Headquarters when Jacques Nasser was CEO. At that time, the premier automotive group governed by Mr. Nasser owned Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo. When Mr. Nasser left the company, he naturally took the best car on the lot with him which is what you are bidding on today.
I am happy every time I see this 1971 Volvo P1800E automatic with factory installed air conditioning. It is practically perfect. Look at the wheels, and at the condition of the interior. It runs sweetly as you can hear from the video. What have I done to the car? Well, I changed the oil to full synthetic as I do with all my cars, installed a new battery and had a new master cylinder and calipers installed. The only two things I would do to this car is fix one paint chip which you can see in the photographs and re-chrome part of the rear bumper. Then the car is perfect. One thing people don’t tell you is that you can get an amazing deal on classic car insurance via Triple A. They literally send someone out to your house to inspect all aspects of the car, see it running and take photographs and of course this car passed with flying colors garnering multiple compliments from the inspector in the process.
I don’t want to sell this car. I wanted it for life, but an imminent move and a lack of a winning lottery ticket means that is not going to be the case. When Sir Roger Moore (the Saint) died Volvo featured the car on their Facebook page which is how they first became aware of it. Volvo has asked for me to send them photos and I reserve the right to sell it to them because frankly a car as special as this deserves the best home. That said if they don’t get back to me by the end of the auction and you have met the very fair reserve price then the car is yours.
