1971 Volvo 145 Description

Up for sale is a very nice driver+ quality 1971 Volvo 145 wagon currently owned by a Volvo collector. The car has always been garaged, runs and drives well, has good oil pressure, no leaks and excellent compression.
Finished in the rare factory color "Turquoise" (code: 104) ... It has had an older respray from the 1990's.

In 2017 the previous owner totally rebuilt the B20 twin carburetor engine and swapped out the original automatic transmission for a freshly rebuilt Volvo 4-speed (no o/d) manual transmission. While the working odometer on the car shows 221,000 original miles... only 1,500 have been logged since completion of the engine and transmission rebuild. I've stayed in touch with this earlier owner who is happy to detail all the work done, but here's a brief overview:
professionally machined and bored blocknew Volvo D camshafthardened valve seatsNew alternator and batterynew cylinder headnew electric fuel pump with adjustable fuel regulator and pressure meternew fuel sender, professionally cleaned and sealed fuel tanknew oil pump, oil pancustom exhaust with heat wrapped headersrebuilt carbsnew rear shocksnew front windshieldsoundproofed floor"Luisi" Italian wood steering wheelfresh oil change and tune-upVolvo 240 turbo ("Virgo") 15 inch wheels with very good tires (I have a substitute set of rare caps/trim rings/stock wheels if desired by the new owner)
This is a factory air conditioned car. The a/c was removed during the engine rebuild but comes with the car and can be reinstalled by the new owner.
Some other nice features:
excellent original unmolested dashall gauges work except original temp gauge- there's a functional temp gauge under the dashaftermarket JVC in dash cassette stereo with new rear door speakers. Sounds great!excellent original headlinervery nice Volvo chrome roof rackrare set of Volvo rubber floor mats
* The entire interior was redone by a well respected local upholstery shop in Charlottesville last fall, including new black carpet, new seat cushions and covers in black vinyl. Rear cargo area is very clean and recently dyed by the upholstery shop- see photo's. Glass is good all around.
Issues:
Very minor rust on the bottom of the tailgate underneath the rubber gasket. You can't see it unless the tail gate is open... Tailgate latch/lock occasionally sticks but can always be opened from inside... Hood has some minor scratches- see photo- (it's very hard to see or photograph). The tailgate wiper is inoperable.
I'm conflicted about selling this car since I spent so many years trying to track down a nice early 145 series Volvo, especially to find one in this rare color. I currently have six classic Volvo's in my collection including three wagons so this one is being sold only to free up a garage spot for a new spring acquisition.
I'm happy to answer any questions via email. Personal inspections are welcome. The car is garaged about 15 minutes north of Charlottesville, Va. I am happy to meet you with the car at the Charlottesville airport or assist with your shipper. I know an excellent shipping broker if needed. Please- serious inquiries only. This is NOT a "must sell" situation.
