1800es Sportwagon
1973 Volvo 1800 Sport wagon Description
I rescued this 1800 that has been stored outdoors for the past 18 years. It was driven in New England year round from 1973 to 2002 and has been with the same owner since 1977. It was stored because it did not pass inspection from a rusted under belly. It has typical 1800es corrosion in the floor pans, cross members and rear wheel wells and will need metal around the rear window bottom. Fortunately the metal panels are relatively inexpensive. It was running when parked, the engine is in good condition and has an automatic transmission. The 1800 is designed to take either an AT or 4 speed with OD with no body modifications. Headers / light weight mods help the performance. All the wheel covers and trim rings, bright metal and seats are in good original condition. There is one small split in the drivers seat that needs repair. The body got a budget repaint at some point prior to 2002. The car should go to bare metal and be fully restored or there are plenty of valuable parts to donate to an existing project. The bumpers are solid and could be replated. There are spare marker lights and the original tools are included. There is no spare. If you want a straight forward project and are good with a welder you should do well with this car. The 1800es was just featured in this month's Hemmings, excellent examples now are cresting $40,000. I have more photos in "as found" condition for those that would like more detail. This is a no reserve auction so bid to buy.
