1979 Volvo 240/244DL------re-listing due to non-paying buyer
1979 Volvo 240 Description
I bought this car last year from the estate of the original owner. With only 78K miles it is practically like a new car. A Texas car all it's life so absolutely no rust anywhere. The original paint still shines, original upholstery & carpet like new. Has one small crack in dash. When I bought the car it had been sitting in a garage for 10 years, without being driven, due to illness. Unfortunately this caused problems in the fuel-injection system, which prevented it from running. I had 2 highly qualified mechanics try to diagnose the problem, without success. After spending several hundred dollars for parts & labor without much improvement I decided to remove all the fuel-injection system and convert it to a plain, simple carburetor. A Holley 5200, which is a Weber clone. Now it starts easily & runs great. If you're familiar with these older Volvo's you know that most of their problems are related to the fuel-injection and/or computer systems. Now, this car has neither. I saved all the old parts, just in case anyone wants to swap it back to fuel-injection. I also installed a new master-cylinder & power-brake booster, and other misc. parts such as gas-tank, fuel pump, etc. It has A/C but does not cool. The compressor runs so I suspect it's just low on freon 134. I haven't taken it to be checked out because of the virus situation. I have not transferred the title into my name yet because of the current pandemic situation, so technically it is still a one-owner car. I stay at home to minimize my exposure. If you come look at the car I ask you to wear a mask & social distance, for everyone's safety. Buyer will be responsible for shipping arrangements AFTER car is paid for.
