1967 Volvo 1967 Amazon 122S Coupe Description

Time to sell my 1967 122S project car. I am moving 2400 miles and it’s not practical to ship the car and spare parts with me, so I am hoping someone else will fall in love with this old round fender and complete the restoration. This car looks good in the photos, but it is strictly a daily driver at this point. The engine, transmission, drive train is in great condition. It starts immediately every time. I have had it 11 years and don’t know the history or mileage as the odometer wasn’t working when I got it from Colorado. It appears that the only damage to the body is the front bumper. It is a little crunched but could be pressed back to shape. The remaining rust is right side fender where it bolts to the body, passenger rocker panel, passenger rocker panel, some near the drivers rear shock. I had the driver’s floor panel welded.

The best thing I did was have the SU carbs rebuilt by Joe Curto in New Jersey. They came back like new and now I can balance the carbs and set the idle speed. I dropped the transmission, put in a new clutch rear seals, u-joint, rear end pinion seal. New rear end damper straps and IPD nylon bushings.

When I take off a part I clean all the gunk and do my best to restore it.

Engine runs great and I saw no need to pull the head and do major work. I added a new coil and ballast resistor between the distributor and coil that saves your points. The generator was replacedand a new voltage regulator.

When you look up close at the paint you will see I learned a big lesson on why you need to do a final block sand. I wanted to strip the Ford Sea Foam green paint that was bubbling and checking and paint it the original red. I thought I had it prepped well enough to have a shop do the finish coat. Up close at an angle you can see the ripples, but at3 feet it looks great. Before it was painted I removed all the trim, door panels, door glass and hardware. I put in new door & window seals all around. I haven’t finished putting it all back together as you can see in the photos. I am running out of time before I move.

This car has the bones to be restored to show quality, with not too much effort or money. Add paint, dash pad, carpet, trunk seal, headliner, front bumper, heater thermostat control, some rust repair. There is one small issue I haven't sorted out. When backing up and braking then going forward I hear a clunk. I pulled the rear end and had a shop look at it and no issues were found. It could be a motor mount.

Car includes all the spare parts I accumulated, which includes rear brake drum puller, and a rare A/C compressor and bracket I found on eBay. I can’t guaranteed it works, but I feel it could be broken down and repaired with new seals.

I made an error in the description. It is a 4 door not a coupe
