1994 Volvo 850 TURBO R STYLE Description
CLEAN, completely rust-free 1994 Volvo 850wagon, the iconic Estate that swept the competition at the BTCC thru the 1990s. This is a Turbo Series, TWO-OWNER California 850, residing in California its entire life since being sold newin CA. It was traded in at Carlsen Volvo of Palo Alto ten years ago, where the second owner ( a VOLVO master tech with Carlsen for 17 years) purchased it. The LAST of the super-sturdy Swedish built Volvos.
The Volvo has been upgraded and revised with many performance upgrades. It would cost my opening bid on upgrades alone!214K original miles. It starts, idles and drives very well, quietly and smoothly on both town and on the highway, as it should be expected.
There is ABSOLUTELY NO rust nor corrosion on this vehicle, as it would be expected from a California-lived Volvo ( hard-pressed condition to find in anybeyond the Sierra mountains). BEWARE OF RUST BUCKETS FROM THE EAST COAST~! ( it's beyond me why anyone would want to buy an East coast car with potential hidden rust ).
This Volvo 855 comes fully equipped with most standard features and amenities available at that time. S60R factoryHYPER alloy wheels,with a nice set ofPIRELLI radial tires mounted on them ( with approximately 85% tread left).
Stock 2.3L Turbocharged engineruns super. As it is well documented in all VOLVO circles, thesemotors were a vast improvement over the earlier 2.3 engines as they weremore robust, more powerfuland had an unbelievable amount oftorque as a result of engine redesigning to increase displacement to a more efficient, reliable motor. 850s literally swept asidealarge segment of the competition in the 1990s all throughout Europe ( before the Estate was banned because it was too successful).
It runs SMOOTH. NO overheating issues of any kind, ticking, exhaust noises nor rattles to contend with. This 855 has only 214K total miles,average for any Volvo and most cars of its vintage. Cylinder head redone at 189K. New timing belt last year, less than 2K miles ago.The Wagon starts immediately and it is turn-key and ready to drive away. Finish was refinished in Citrus orange four years ago. Still shines quite nicely. The body, chassis and undercarriage are super solid considering this 850 is twentytwo years young !
There is NO oxidation of the clearcoat on the roof, hood or rear areas ( or anywhere else for that matter), a common ailment on many cars, specially East Coast examples where the elements and salted roads have taken their toll on the body panels and undercarriage, a hindrance nearly impossible to repair! ABSOLUTELY ZERO RUST THROUGHOUT.The body in this 855 is CLEAN. Only mishap was an unwary "potential buyer" not knowing how to egress from my driveway, toasting the center section of the front spoiler! ( still have the section).
Its original Charcoal black upholstery is invery good condition for its age and has held upwell.Orange suede headliner anddoor inserts. NEVER smoked in. The interior is CLEAN.Overall, avery clean interior, door panels, factory carpeting and trunk area.
The photos show the 855 Estate accurately.A sharp, rust-free, unrestored 94'with a super 2.3L engine. It runs very well with a strong, solid powertrain. Clean chassis, no tweaks and NO rust and nice interior. It will make a super fun traveler,commuter or just a funcar to drive around. ADULT-OWNEDEstate, not some kid's weekend racer.
