This is a 1949 CJ3A that I bought at neighbors auction. He was the 2nd owner, and bought in 1963. He had done a lot of work to it. The engine was rebuilt back in 1988.At the same time he replaced the clutch /pressure plate.
In 1990 he rebuilt the brakes, front knuckle seals on front endand put new tires on it.
And that is where his story ends.
I bought it at auction in 2016. I took it home, bought a 6 volt battery for it, and primed carb, and it was up and running. It drives nice and shifted great. The 4x4 works and seemed to get around great. It is still 6 volt, but everything seemed to work(lights, heater, turn signals, gauges). I started it several times that day and it fired right up.
After setting overnight, I had to prime carb and start over( it did start though) After setting in driveway I noticed the gas tank started leaking. I had started taking the gas tank out(that is why the inside is tore up).
I believe that all it would need is a gas tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, and carburetor kit to make it a daily driver.
The willys is in good shape for as old as it is. I can only find a couple of spots rust(front fender braces, both sides and a small spot started under the passengers side door,) (IN pictures).
There are a couple of cracked windows(cheep to fix, flat glass) and a few dings. The drivers side front fender is dented( in pictures)
The metel top is a Koenig Iron Works from Houston TX. I believe they said it was bought 6 months after original purchase and put on, and hasn't been off since. The floors are in great shape and I see no rust.
I bought it with intentions of going back original with everything, and just have too many projects and it has to go.
I have it listed locally also.
I have a clear title in hand.
