The Willys Jeepster was first offered in 1948 and was only in production until 1950. It was conceived by Willys Overland as a crossover vehicle from their utility vehicle line to a passenger vehicle that they hoped would appeal to the GI's returning from World War II. A total of only 19,132 were ever produced.
This beautiful example of automotive history has received a comprehensive frame off restoration recently, so everything is fresh.
The paint and body work are beautiful and It has been meticulously maintained.
The owner first restored it to original condition to include the 4 cylinder Hurricane engine and manual 3 speed transmission. Then he decided he wanted something a bit more drivable on today's roads so he upgraded to a 350, 300 HP, small block engine hooked to a 700R overdrive automatic transmission. Adding power steering and power brakes, disc front and drums in the rear. The front suspension was up graded to a new front end from Chassis Engineering.
The result is a unique classic automobile that is a pleasure to drive anywhere you choose for your touring pleasure and family fun.
The original, fully restored engine and transmission as well as the original front suspension setup and rebuilt rear end go with the sale should the buyer ever choose to restore it to the original condition. You would also get some original paperwork from 1950 including the original bill of sale and original owners manual. He has a shop manual and a complete factory parts list enclosed in 5 three ring binders.
All in all, a very attractive package with many extras included.
