1952 Willys M38 Description

1952 Willy’s M38 flat fender w/ matching numbers

Hood # 20942827

Serial # 65788

Delivery Date 05/52

I purchased this M38 in 2007 out of Arkansas and have put around 800 miles on her around town and to car shows in the past 8 years. The body is solid and straight and original. It has the original tail gate, the Jeep stamp in the passenger side foot well, and the original air cleaner, data plate, etc.

When I brought her home I replaced the fuel tank, added rear seats, seat belts all around, a side mirror, and a canvas top and top bow.

I have some of the original parts that were not reinstalled on the vehicle including, the wiper mechanisms, some of the blackout tail lights, and a few other items. These items are a battleship gray which I believe was the original color.

Converted to a 12 volt system prior to 2007.

Original Go-Devil L-head engine had a $4,200 over hall in 2011 which included:

All new bearings

New pistons and rings

New clutch and pressure plate

Resurfaced block and head

New carburetor and ignition coil in 2015

New brake shoes and wheel cylinders in 2015

Optima battery

Mechanically a 9.5 out of 10. Aesthetically a 9 with no rust or dents on the body but some pitting under where the primary black out light used to be on the drivers fender and some flaking on the steel rear bumper and leafs. These numbers are not adjusted for age. It is a rock solid vehicle that might even go places my HMMWV will not be able to go.

The speedometer works, the fuel gauge works, the voltmeter works. Everything has been done correctly (except for the welded trailer hitch instead of the proper pintle hook).
